"O que é Violência Política contra a Mulher?" pretende discutir a baixa representatividade de mulheres em posição de poder e os vários desafios que as candidatas precisam encarar antes, durante e depois do pleito, no exercício de seu mandato. De forma didática e direta, a publicação traz orientações sobre a importância de uma maior participação de mulheres na política e sobre o que pode caracterizar violência política contra as mulheres – tanto durante processos eleitorais quanto durante sua atuação em cargos públicos, eletivos ou não. Além de explicar os tipos de violência política, o livro ainda apresenta os recentes avanços no ordenamento jurídico do país no enfrentamento desse problema, com a promulgação das Leis n° 14.192/2021 (sobre a violência política contra a mulher) e 14.197/2021 (Lei do Estado Democrático de Direito) e dá orientações claras e diretas sobre o que se deve fazer para combater esse crime. Com a publicação, a Câmara dos Deputados espera contribuir para uma cultura de combate à violência política contra as mulheres, promovendo condições para o aumento da participação feminina na política.

Cinematic products in the twenty-first century increasingly emerge from, engage with, and are consumed in cross-cultural settings. While there have been a number of terms used to describe cinematic forms that do not bear allegiance to a single nation in terms of conceptualization, content, finance and/or viewership, this volume contends that "crossover cinema" is the most apt contemporary description for those aspects of contemporary cinema on which it focuses. This contention is provoked by an appreciation of the cross-cultural reality of our post-globalization twenty-first century world. This volume both outlines the history of usage of the term and grounds it theoretically in ways that emphasize the personal/poetic in addition to the political. Each of the three sections of the volume then considers crossover film from one of three perspectives: production, the texts themselves, and distribution and consumption.

In Musicians in Transit Matthew B. Karush examines the transnational careers of seven of the most influential Argentine musicians of the twentieth century: Afro-Argentine swing guitarist Oscar Alemán, jazz saxophonist Gato Barbieri, composer Lalo Schifrin, tango innovator Astor Piazzolla, balada singer Sandro, folksinger Mercedes Sosa, and rock musician Gustavo Santaolalla. As active participants in the globalized music business, these artists interacted with musicians and audiences in the United States, Europe, and Latin America and contended with genre distinctions, marketing conventions, and ethnic stereotypes. By responding creatively to these constraints, they made innovative music that provided Argentines with new ways of understanding their nation’s place in the world. Eventually, these musicians produced expressions of Latin identity that reverberated beyond Argentina, including a novel form of pop ballad; an anti-imperialist, revolutionary folk genre; and a style of rock built on a pastiche of Latin American and global genres. A website with links to recordings by each musician accompanies the book.
