The Woman from Bratislava
In Bratislava, Teddy Pedersen, a middle-aged, Danish university lecturer, receives a visit from an Eastern European woman who turns out to be his half-sister. Father to both of them was a Danish SS officer who had officially been declared dead in 1952, but had in fact lived on in Yugoslavia for many years. In Copenhagen, Teddy's older sister is arrested on suspicion of being a Stasi agent, and a murder leads Teddy - and the Danish intelligence service - to investigate the relationship between these two - the woman in Denmark and the woman in Bratislava. The link between them proves to have far-reaching personal and political consequences.

A Danish daily newspaper has in cooperation with Danish PEN Centre invited her to Copenhagen, and police officer Per Toftlund of the Danish Secret Police is put in charge of protecting the author. A politician in parliament strikes a deal with dire consequences. And somewhere in the former Yugoslavia a young man signs up for murder. The man is Vuk. He is the Serbian Dane.
The Sardine Deception

A great read for people that loves thrillers and mysteries, and anyone that loves Danish series such as Borgen, The Killing and The Bridge. Leif Davidsen (1950) is one of Denmark's most popular authors. He made his radio debut in the seventies as a freelance journalist, a job that led him to travel frequently and which became a source of inspiration for his political thrillers. Davidsen made a name for himself as a writer in the 1990's. His works often describe the condition of contemporary man in a constantly evolving political world.

De Deense rechercheur Per Toftlund krijgt de taak haar te beschermen. Op datzelfde moment wordt de Deens-Servische huurmoordenaar Vuk ingehuurd om de schrijfster te vermoorden. Zijn specialiteit is vermomming. Iets wat ervoor zorgt dat hij niet opvalt op de persconferentie; voor Per Toftlund is hij haast ongrijpbaar... Leif Davidsen (1950) is een Deense auteur, die vooral bekend is vanwege zijn thrillers. Na in de Verenigde Staten gestudeerd te hebben, is Davidsen journalist geweest in Moskou voor verschillende Deense nieuwszenders. Davidsen weet dan ook een realistisch beeld van Denemarken, de V.S. en Rusland te schetsen op zowel politiek, religieus als maatschappelijk niveau. 'De vrouw op de foto' werd uitgeroepen tot beste Scandinavische thriller van 1999.
