This work is the result of more than a decade of research on the Chinese household and lineage in the southeastern province of Fujian during the Ming and Qing period (1368-1911). It offers new interpretations of the Chinese domestic cycle, the relationship between household and larger kinship groups, and the development of lineage society in south China. General Lam had not come to the military meeting in the past few days. XuZhiqing explained everything to everyone, but secretly explained the situation to him, to avoid him from just wandering around in his dreams, not knowing the years, and then being confused when the time came. At this moment, when talking about the current situation, everyone frowned, even Gao Tu who was not knowledgeable about military affairs felt that the matter was not going well. Xu Zhiqing glanced at the map and circled around, from Wuyuan to the east, to Yiwu to the west, outside of Shangshan, to the north was a vast land, all within the sphere of influence of the Turks. Dahua was known as the Celestial Empire, with a large land and a large population, but when compared to the Turks, based on geographical area alone, they basically did not have the advantage. It was just that the majority of the Turks' territory was grasslands and deserts, compared to the soil of Dahua, the difference was like heaven and earth.

"... an important contribution to the study of recent Chinese literature." -- Choice "This fine, scholarly survey of Chinese literature since 1949... discusses such trends as modernism, nativism, realism, root-seeking and 'scar' literature, 'misty' poets, and political, feminist, and societal issues in modern Chinese literature." -- Library Journal This volume is a survey of modern Chinese literature in the second half of the twentieth century. It has three goals: (1) to introduce figures, works, movements, and debates that constitute the dynamics of Chinese literature from 1949 to the end of the century; (2) to depict the enunciative endeavors, ranging from ideological treatises to avant-garde experiments, that inform the polyphonic discourse of Chinese cultural politics; (3) to observe the historical factors that enacted the interplay of literary (post)modernities across the Chinese communities in the Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and overseas.
The growing interest in the history of Indonesia has made it desirable to have an English summary of the principal works of the Dutch historian Dr H. J. de Graaf, who in several books and articles published between 1935 and 1973 has given a description of the development of the Javanese kingdom of Mataram, based both on European and in digenous material. His works form a substantial contribution to the study of the national history of Indonesia. The Summary contains references to the paragraphs of the Dutch books and articles. This makes it easy for those readers who have a know ledge of Dutch to consult the original texts. The List of Sources for the study of Javanese history from 1500 to 1700 is composed of the lists in the summarized books and articles, and the Index of Names refers not only to the present Summary but also to the eight original texts. Many names of persons and localities in the Index have been provided with short explanatory notes and references to other lemmata as a quick way to give some provisional information on Javanese history.
