The newspaper moved to Lindsay in June 1861 and became "The Weekly Post" in 1899 and shortly after, "The Lindsay Post." "The trading area of the Canadian Post was advertised to be the counties of Victoria, Haliburton, and portions of Peterborough, Ontario, Durham and Northumberland.".

John Lindsay II (b.1804) married Martha Martin and immigrated about 1832/1833 from Ireland to Bytown, Ontario, moving in 1841 to land in Elgin County, Ontario. Descendants lived in Ontario and else- where. Some descendants immigrated to Michigan and elsewhere in the United States.
