Field notes Vol. 489 documents Bassett Maguire's botanical collecting in Brazil in 1960 on a New York Botanical Garden expedition, with co-collectors Lubbert Y. Th. Westra, Celia K. Maguire, João Murça Pires, Howard S. Irwin, and Walter Egler. It consists of a list of specimen numbers 47000-48907, collected July 8-November 7, 1960 in Amapá, Río Oiapoque region. The list contains collection locations and dates, description, and herbarium determination (added later and still ongoing). The notebook also contains instructions for fern collecting and a loose sheet of Pteridophyta determinations. The Maguire field books also have their own volume numbering scheme; this is Vol. 24. Copy 2 is a photocopy made by the NYBG Archives, and may not have all herbarium determinations.
