Divide-se em três partes: “Recovering, reconstructing and (re)discovering family and personal archives”; “From a social, political and cultural history of the families to a social history of the archives”; “Public preservation and promotion of family and personal archives”.

Domingos and Jose Baptist came to America from Madeira. They were brothers and married sisters, Josefa and Joana Spinola. Their ancestors came from Portugal and Genoa about 1500. They settled in Illinois with other immigrants from Madeira between 1850 and 1900. Information on the Madeiran as well as the American branches on the family are included in this material. Descendants now live in Illinois, California, Colorado, and elsewhere.
