This book is primarily about the descendants of John Henry and Margaret Williams, in particular Frederick Stanley and Ethel Williams. The Williams family is well-known to many long-term residents of the Mackay district. It now has many branches. John Henry worked on ships in the 1860s and in 1873 married Margaret, settling at Mackay where he maintained his maritime connections at a time when sugar-cane plantations were flourishing.
