Conductive ink is a special type of ink that allows an electric current to flow through the ink. The conductive ink-filled epoxy is also known as conductive composite because the ink itself is based on more than two ingredients such as filler, binder and hardener. As interconnect material, the conductive inks should feature good electrical, mechanical and thermal properties. Nonetheless, to-date, there are some issues with current conductive ink that available in the market namely printing quality, high electrical resistivity as well as inferior mechanical strength. Therefore, this book aims to produce highly functional conductive ink using two types of carbon-based conductive fillers with epoxy as a binder. More specifically, graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) and multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) were used to produce the hybrid conductive ink. It is very important to make sure the materials are contact with each other and therefore the movement of an electron will become easier.

Scale in Remote Sensing and GIS

The recent emergence and widespread use of remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) has prompted new interest in scale as a key component of these and other geographic information technologies. With a balanced mixture of concepts, practical examples, techniques, and theory, Scale in Remote Sensing and GIS is a guide for students and users of remote sensing and GIS who must deal with the issues raised by multiple temporal and spatial scales. Sixteen pages of full-color photographs help demonstrate key points made in the text.

The Oxford Handbook of Maritime Archaeology

This title is a comprehensive survey of maritime archaeology as seen through the eyes of nearly fifty scholars at a time when maritime archaeology has established itself as a mature branch of archaeology.

Transmission Pipeline Calculations and Simulations Manual

Transmission Pipeline Calculations and Simulations Manual is a valuable time- and money-saving tool to quickly pinpoint the essential formulae, equations, and calculations needed for transmission pipeline routing and construction decisions. The manual’s three-part treatment starts with gas and petroleum data tables, followed by self-contained chapters concerning applications. Case studies at the end of each chapter provide practical experience for problem solving. Topics in this book include pressure and temperature profile of natural gas pipelines, how to size pipelines for specified flow rate and pressure limitations, and calculating the locations and HP of compressor stations and pumping stations on long distance pipelines. Case studies are based on the author’s personal field experiences Component to system level coverage Save time and money designing pipe routes well Design and verify piping systems before going to the field Increase design accuracy and systems effectiveness

This book is designed to be an inclusive for the best practice approach to building maintenance management, where the processes, procedures and operational systems meet a high standard of professional and academic competence. It offers a different perspective on building maintenance management by presenting the schematic building maintenance value chain model and it’s implementation in Malaysian university buildings. The findings show an improvement to building performance, lower maintenance cost, building sustainability and increased maintenance service user satisfaction. The learning outcomes and summaries provided for each chapter and the extensive use of tables and figures add to the r...

Reduction of a Ship's Magnetic Field Signatures

Reduction of a Ship's Magnetic Field Signatures

Decreasing the magnetic field signature of a naval vessel will reduce its susceptibility to detonating naval influence mines and the probability of a submarine being detected by underwater barriers and maritime patrol aircraft. Both passive and active techniques for reducing the magnetic signatures produced by a vessel's ferromagnetism, roll-induced eddy currents, corrosion-related sources, and stray fields are presented. Mathematical models of simple hull shapes are used to predict the levels of signature reduction that might be achieved through the use of alternate construction materials. Also, the process of demagnetizing a steel-hulled ship is presented, along with the operation of shaft-grounding systems, paints, and alternate configurations for power distribution cables. In addition, active signature reduction technologies are described, such as degaussing and deamping, which attempt to cancel the fields surrounding a surface ship or submarine rather than eliminate its source. Surges

This paper examines why surges in capital flows to emerging market economies (EMEs) occur, and what determines the allocation of capital across countries during such surge episodes. We use two different methodologies to identify surges in EMEs over 1980-2009, differentiating between those mainly caused by changes in the country's external liabilities (reflecting the investment decisions of foreigners), and those caused by changes in its assets (reflecting the decisions of residents). Global factors-including US interest rates and risk aversion¡-are key to determining whether a surge will occur, but domestic factors such as the country's external financing needs (as implied by an intertemporal optimizing model of the current account) and structural characteristics also matter, which explains why not all EMEs experience surges. Conditional on a surge occurring, moreover, the magnitude of the capital inflow depends largely on domestic factors including the country's external financing needs, and the exchange rate regime. Finally, while similar factors explain asset- and liability-driven surges, the latter are more sensitive to global factors and contagion.

Macroeconomic Policies and the Balance of Payments in Pakistan

This paper describes developments in the balance of payments of Pakistan during 1972-86, focusing particularly on the factors that gave rise to external payments problems and the macroeconomics policies that were adopted by the authorities. While performance on the growth and inflation fronts compares favorably with other developing countries, the balance of payments remained persistently weak. A combination of favorable external shocks, such as the large increase in workers’ remittances and sizable foreign aid inflows, allowed the economy some breathing room, but ultimately did not reduce the need for comprehensive fiscal and trade reforms to ensure medium-term viability of the balance of payments.
