Este livro reúne dois textos redigidos originalmente de próprio punho pelo indígena Ofaié Ataíde Francisco Rodrigues, que no seu idioma recebeu o nome de Xehitâ-ha. O primeiro artigo é inédito e faz parte do acervo de documentos manuscritos que integram o dossiê recolhidos pelo indigenista do CIMI, organizador desta obra, e que hoje se encontra nos arquivos do Núcleo de Documentação História Professor Honório de Souza Carneiro, da UFMS, Campus de Três Lagoas/MS. O segundo artigo veio a público em 1996 quando do lançamento do livro Ofaié, morte e vida de um povo, editado pelo Instituto Histórico e Geográfico de Mato Grosso do Sul, de Campo Grande-MS.
