The Politics of Proximity
Increasingly, everyday living and practices depend on how mobility (and immobility) is articulated through the ever-present influence of a range of physical and virtual infrastructures. This book focuses in particular on the 'political' dimension of mobility and immobility, which plays a key role in establishing patterns of proximity in real and virtual co-presence. Proximity is seen as the result of choices, negotiations and practices carried out in different settings. Drawing from different literature streams (Sociology, Organization Studies and Science and Technology Studies), this book analyses patterns of mobility in relation to new possibilities of organizing space, time, and proximity to others. Different phenomena - from memorial sites to migration, from urban mobility to mobile work - are analysed, illustrating different types of proximity through mobility and immobility. In doing so, this book offers a cross-cultural and innovative theoretical framing of issues linked to mobility, through the link with immobility and proximity.

Psycho-pedagogical research in a Double-degree programme
In this volume we have collected the contributions of many colleagues from the teaching board of Double Degree Joint Master’s Programme in Pedagogy and Educational Sciences and Training of Sapienza University of Rome and two prestigious universities of the Russian Federation: Moscow Federal University for Psychology and Pedagogy (MSUPE) and North-Caucasus Federal University (NCFU) at Stavropol. The present anthology is meant to review the positions and studies that individual teachers from the different universities involved presented in recent years, during online courses, in the lecturing, in the meetings and to discuss their possible opportunities. The volume puts forward this programme, to spread its structure, the theoretical assumptions and the various positions. The contributions are meant to testify a keen interest in internationalization that Sapienza is carrying out. The contributions collected give the reader a chance to share a common interest in the promising approach implied by the Historical-cultural trend in Psychology and Pedagogy of the Vygotsky’s thought, which seems a must in psycho-pedagogical reflections, and in organizing and evaluating school activities.
Some thoughts about the future of criminology
La Criminologia si è sviluppata principalmente dalle sue dicotomiche radici originali, antropologica e sociologica. L’uso recente di teorie, come ad esempio la Teoria del Caos applicati da Williams ai fenomeni di devianza sociale, Teorie Semiotiche utilizzate da Milanovic e Arrigo, e lo sviluppo di nuove teorie e approcci in ogni campo del sapere hanno portato diversi punti di vista che non ci hanno solo permesso di approfondire altri temi, ma anche nella Criminologia. Ma, ancora più importante, queste teorie hanno chiarito il fatto che la criminalità e devianza sono fenomeni complessi che non possono essere analizzati in quadri precedentemente limitati. Al contrario la Criminologia ha bisogno di analisi ed integrazioni multidisciplinari e di metodologie sofisticate.
Environment, Social Justice, and the Media in the Age of the Anthropocene
Environment, Social Justice, and the Media in the Age of Anthropocene addresses three imminent challenges to human society in the age of the Anthropocene. The first challenge involves the survival of the species; the second the breakdown of social justice; and the third the inability of the media to provide global audiences with an adequate orientation about these issues. The notion of the Anthropocene as a geological age shaped by human intervention implies a new understanding of the human context that influences the physical and biological sciences. Human existence continues to be affected by the physical and biological reality from which it evolved but, in turn, it affects that reality as well. This work addresses this paradox by bringing together the contributions of researchers from very different disciplines in conversation about the complex relationships between the physical/biological world and the human world to offer different perspectives and solutions in establishing social and environmental justice in the age of the Anthropocene.
Fashion through History
This book arises from an international conference held at Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, in May 2015, and it includes papers by important Italian scholars of fashion.
