This volume presents a new picture of marriage in medieval Poland. Based on the analysis of historical documents from the ecclesiastical courts of one of the oldest dioceses in Poland, this book sheds light on the presence and prevalence of a wide range of marital problems in the Diocese of Poznań in the first quarter of the fifteenth century. Through the material presented, the voices of one of the most underrepresented groups in the history of society – namely women from the lower social strata – are amplified.

National Tradition or Western Pattern?
In the history of the development of Polish law and administration, the short period of the constitutional Duchy of Warsaw, and next of the Kingdom of Poland, was a special time. This is because it was the only moment in the 19th century when the Polish elites gained an opportunity to concentrate their efforts on the organization of the modern state machinery. This book presents the process of restructuring the administrative structures following the collapse of the Napoleonic Duchy of Warsaw and before the establishment of the Kingdom of Poland in 1815. The author focuses on the approach of the Polish elites to the nascent modern state, increasing importance of administration within it and to the young Polish bureaucrats.

Das internationale und interdisziplinäre wissenschaftliche Kolloquium der Forschergruppe "Nomen et gens" bemüht sich um die Sammlung, Inventarisierung, Deutung und Auswertung der Personennamen von der Zeit der Völkerwanderung bis zu Karl dem Großen. Dieser Band schließt an das 1997 erschienene Werk Nomen et gens an. Die Beiträge widmen sich den Problemen, die sich aus historischer und philologischer Sicht für die Konzeption und Erstellung eines Personennamenbuchs ergeben. In einem ersten Teil wird die Forschungsgeschichte der letzten Jahrzehnte auf dem Gebiete der Personen- und Personennamenforschung, der Prosopographie und der Namenbücher behandelt. Im zweiten Teil finden grundlegende methodische Reflexionen ihren Platz.
