The book analyses the spectacular urban growth in the late 20th century of the former rural town of Tonalá, particularly with the construction of the housing development "Ciudad Loma Dorada". The project is part of the metropolitan region of Guadalajara and is an example of the urban development of the region. The author addresses the architecture, construction process of the urban space and the social and cultural changes and how the unregulated urban zoning during the 1970's in Guadalajara generated enormous housing developments and an uneven land appropriation process.
