This edition of the volume ‘Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing’ presents the proceedings of the 3rd International Scientific Conference BCI. The event was held at Opole University of Technology in Poland on 13 and 14 March 2018. Since 2014 the conference has taken place every two years at the University’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatic Control and Informatics. The conference focused on the issues relating to new trends in modern brain–computer interfaces (BCI) and control engineering, including neurobiology–neurosurgery, cognitive science–bioethics, biophysics–biochemistry, modeling–neuroinformatics, BCI technology, biomedical engineering, control and robotics, computer engineering and neurorehabilitation–biofeedback. In addition to paper presentations, the scientific program also included a number of practical demonstrations covering, for example, the on-line control of mobile robot and unmanned aerial vehicle using the BCI technology.

  • Publisher: Springer

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing and Ambient Intelligence, UCAmI 2012, held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, in December 2012. The 70 research papers were carefully reviewed and selected from various submissions. The main focus of this book has been to explore how Ambient Intelligence can contribute towards smarter but still more sustainable environments. Beyond sustainable computing the proceedings also include research work describing progress on other key research topics for AmI such as human environment mobile-mediated (through NFC or AR) interaction, artificial intelligence techniques to foster user- and context-aware environment adaptation, future internet trends such as social networks analysis, linked data or crowd-sourcing applied to AmI, internet-connected object ecosystems collaborating to give place to smarter environments.

Timing Jitter in Time-of-Flight Range Imaging Cameras

This book explains how depth measurements from the Time-of-Flight (ToF) range imaging cameras are influenced by the electronic timing-jitter. The author presents jitter extraction and measurement techniques for any type of ToF range imaging cameras. The author mainly focuses on ToF cameras that are based on the amplitude modulated continuous wave (AMCW) lidar techniques that measure the phase difference between the emitted and reflected light signals. The book discusses timing-jitter in the emitted light signal, which is sensible since the light signal of the camera is relatively straightforward to access. The specific types of jitter that present on the light source signal are investigated throughout the book. The book is structured across three main sections: a brief literature review, jitter measurement, and jitter influence in AMCW ToF range imaging.
