Letter and promissory note, dated Feb. 12, 1795 in Idiazabal, Spain, from Vicente de Lardizábal, to Martín Antonio de Huici, accountant of the Real Compañía de Filipinas, concerning Lardizábal's loan from Huici. In his letter, Lardizábal describes his life in Idiazabal as an emigré doctor who has fled from French-occupied parts of northern Spain. Unsigned draft of a letter, dated April 1, 1821 in Madrid, probably written by Martín Antonio de Huici, concerning an accounting dispute. Huici, a director of the Compañía de Filipinas in Madrid, notes that the directors have not accepted his explanation of the discrepancy in the Company's books of the sum of 10,826 pesos, and intend to resolve the matter before the Company's governing body, the Junta de Gobierno. Huici agrees, convinced that the members of the Junta will side with him. He also gives permission to the directors to send the pertinent papers to the commissioner in Lima, the conde de Villar de Fuentes, and promises to forward to them the necessary papers from his own files.

The letter of Oct. 11, 1819 from Andrés Antonio de Sierra, chief bookkeeper in the accounting office of the Company in Madrid, responds to various concerns outlined by Huici in his letter of Sept. 25, 1818, relating to financial and commercial transactions made by Huici with no corresponding entry in the Company's books. These amounts, including 4410 reales in shipping costs in Cádiz for a cargo of britannias; 2750 pesos for 250 lbs. of cacao from Caracas; 100 r...
