Een moderne pelgrim op zoek naar zichzelf Sebastien de Fooz vertrok in 2005 op weg naar Jeruzalem met een bezemsteel in de hand en amper 50 euro op zak. In zes maanden tijd liep hij zesduizend kilometer en doorkruiste hij twaalf landen: via Centraal-Europa en het Midden-Oosten naar Israël en Palestina. Of hij zijn eindbestemming ooit zou bereiken, was vanaf het begin onzeker. Hij liet zich immers leiden door het onverwachte en door de spontane hulp van mensen. Hij luisterde onderweg naar de uiteenlopende verhalen van talloze mensen. Deze spannende solotocht is echter ook een persoonlijke queeste en toont op indringende wijze hoe persoonlijke angsten overwonnen worden en hoe allerlei maatschappelijke vooroordelen stap voor stap ontkracht worden.
