Dr. ALHASAN CEESAY

Our will is phenomenal force within us that is never deflected by challenge. We hear opponents saying, "Put your purse where your mouth is." This is grudging way of goring our will for it to vacillate. This is about way a penniless human fought against the odds of inhuman laws at many crossroads of his life. The turbulent waves commenced in 1953 when I decided to become part of the solution to rural Gambia's health service delivery. Brace yourself and take heart to read about life of Dr. Alhasan S. Ceesay aka Dr. Alhasan Kunsa Ceesay before you. I write to raise funds for building Njawara village hospital.

Grand Pa Bajoja Ceesay admonished that one only fails upon accepting failure as last resort. He said, "Sonny, the successful had trail blazers of endless failures but only learnt from them while refusing to succumb to failure. " These words of a village sage still ring into my ears as if they were spoken a few seconds ago. I am aware that it is easier to declare challenges as white elephants than find what or how to overcome that seemingly unsalable step before us. This story about Manding Medical Centre is my way of remembering a wise man's love for me and way to success. To think a penniless village boy would dream and dare to carry out such fantasia dreams only beguiles the mind. But this...

The Legend Against All Odds

My struggle for the downtrodden and life objective of providing healthcare delivery to rural Gambia was reinforced by ideas I picked up while a student in Michigan but above for my love and commitment to my fellow villagers. A drowning person swims franticly towards any floating object to cling on it in hope of saving his or her dear precious life. It is form of triumph sane person yearns. We are elated on overcoming be it our fears, failures or a seemingly unsolvable state of difficulty. This work is combination and outcome based up on triumph embellished with angelic hope of bringing health care relief to rural Gambia. It is strong conviction that when one committed to the greater good thr...

ONE MAN'S CRUSADE

This is tip of the ice-berg regarding my determination and effort to bring healthcare delivery to Northern rural Gambia. The path is a trail of hard work intermingled with immigration problems of foot-dragging bureaucracy. Incident I came across in 1954 reinforced my determination to bring solution to Gambia's rural healthcare delivery. Villagers walk l over a hundred miles seeking medical service and only find empty shelved dispensaries with no doctor to attend them. Gambia's healthcare is understaffed and ill-equipped Health Centres. I dedicate my life to providing medical service to rural Gambia through NGO Manding Medical Centre I founded at Njawara village since 1993. The Centre has treated free 90,000 villagers and needs all and any help one can give or join in a good humanitarian cause to needy villagers.

CHASING A DREAM FOR VILLAGERS

Being visionary is challenge few are endowed. The pursuit of a vision by son of a very humble farmer clamoring to build a 350 beds hospital without a dime from his government or gilders in his pocket. Most his dream as building castles in the air. A villager said, "We heard about the good news from our demented dreamer. Where on earth is he going to get the money from to build such a mammoth hospital?" He added "Is he the son of the President?" I recruited international participation in noble cause for a region. The more there are willing hearts and heads in any objective(s) remove it from the credence of dream land to reality. Until the laying of the foundation stone of such a goal the visionary is just hallucinatory in Alice in wonderland. This work is how I plied through thick and thin of political, administrative, even academics among many challenging life's hillocks to bring medical relief to villagers and children in rural Gambia. I write to raise funds for building of Njawara village hospital.

For me, it was no curse to be an eternal realistic optimist for the people. Hence, my choice to become part of the resolution of rural care delivery than seeing poor farmers suffer from biennial rural healthcare delivery neglect. Pioneers of change face untold difficulties until day society come to realization of the vision of the sage. Their path is normally strewn with social thorns and boulders of all sizes amid challenging public resistance one never dreamt. My singular view of life was predicated upon making dream Manding Medical Centre a reality for villagers. Confidence and optimism saw me through all of challenges on my path to success. Fanatical or not I remained resolutely firm to ...

His fame was sprawled throughout the region like wild fire. He was illustrious, rational, and benevolent and endowed with goodness and fair sense of universal justice. His popularity and leadership gift enabled him galvanize the continent into a functional union serving its people. He was one that was guardian of African culture and custodian of its traditions. He was the quintessential African myth and symbol. Let us follow life of our warrior king of Kedougu.

VISIT OF MERCIAN MAMA SANJO

This fictional story was told many times by my late Grandma Sala Hati Sey. It was riveting and kept the village children glued to her until she finishes telling the story of Mama Sanjio, the rain child from space's visit to Panyeki village. It revealed villagers had ideas of planetary people, commonly called Martians. NASA is spending a lot on space adventures not seeking minerals and finding out if life or other people like us leave in space. We know of only human and animals on earth and no where else is there life in this form and use of intellect known to man. Some say a Mercian may be lot brighter than humans but that remains be proven right either through encountering a Mercian or the revealing of their capacity that excels ours. Artificial intelligence mimics fable space creatures but the people of Panyeki village, some thousands of years ago, can attest to gentle landing of space girl (rain child) onto their fields, changing their lives. I write to raise funds for building of Njawara village hospital.
