Det hele startede som en drøm. En drøm om at skabe et værksted for livsudvikling - et eksperimentarium hvor unge kunne lære at leve sammen i frihed og tryghed. Den gang var udgangspunktet, at giver man unge tryghed og frihed, svarer de igen med ansvar og tillid. Det er stadig det samme udgangspunkt. Ordene er måske anderledes nu men indholdet er stadig det samme. Efter 43 års efterskole på Bjerget lukker Bjerget Efterskole i juli 2020 fordi vi ikke længere kan få elever nok til at lave efterskole med. Konkurrencen mellem efterskolerne bliver større fordi de fleste skoler vokser, børnetallet falder i de årgange der skal på efterskole, og samtidig er der en udvikling der går mod at unge vælger det sikre, mainstream eller det de andre gør.
