Himmler

Sokáig azt hittük, hogy Heinrich Himmlernek a feleségéhez, Margához írott levelei – akárcsak a Reichsführer-SS egyéb más iratai – végérvényesen eltűntek. Több évtizeddel öngyilkossága és a II. világháború befejezése után Azonban a levelek napvilágra kerültek Tel-Avivban. Ezek az iratok – amelyek tökéletesen kiegészítik Margának a Koblenzi Szövetségi Levéltárban őrzött leveleit, és amelyeket Michael Wildt és Katrin Himmler tett közzé – a hitleri Németország egyik legfontosabb szereplőjének a magánéletét helyezik teljesen új megvilágításba Amikor Heinrich Himmler és Marga Siegroth 1927-ben megismerkednek egymással, őszinte érzelme...

Divatszalon Auschwitzban

Az auschwitz–birkenaui koncentrációs táborban huszonöt, többségében szlovák és magyar származású zsidó nő elegáns ruhákat varrt a náci elit asszonyai és lányai számára. A varroda sokáig a szögesdróttal körbezárt rettenetes világ közvetlen szomszédságában, a táborparancsnok villájában működött.

Terrorism 3.0

Although the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq suffered serious setbacks in the last years, it does not mean that the fight against Jihadist groups was won. Affiliates of ISIS from Afghanistan to Nigeria are still strong, controlling territories and launching devastating attacks. Regional allies of al-Qaeda are conducting assassinations in Somalia and Kenya and have the capacity to destabilise whole subregions in the Sahel and the Horn. Furthermore, new bridgeheads of Jihadism were established in Mozambique and the DRC. Though the number of large-scale terrorist attacks declined in Europe, smaller actions are regular. The aim of this volume is to provide a better understanding of the current s...

Diary of a U-Boat Commander

Captain Karl von Schenk of the Kaiser's Navy is a stereotypical German nobleman - supremely self-confident, touchy about the divisions of class and any infringement on his place. He thinks he is handsome, has a suitably manly physique, an excellent singing voice, and a facility with writing. His wartime service related in his diary is a series of triumphs over harrowing circumstances, bringing his boat back in spite of the best efforts of the Royal Navy to stop him. His one vulnerability is a young lady he meets on leave in Bruges, Belgium. Although she is the trophy girlfriend of a German colonel who could cause him much harm if he were to find out, von Schenk pursues his Zoe with Teutonic straightforwardness. And both he and the reader are entirely blind-sided by the unexpected thunderclap that puts an end to the sweet affair. Stephen King-Hall, a Royal Navy officer during the war and writing as "Etienne", penned this book as if he had simply discovered it on a surrendered submarine. In fact, some editions of the book list the author as "anonymous." King-Hall's knowlege of naval affairs lend authority to this yarn of men that go to the sea in ships that sink... on purpose.

Perishable Goods

Classic Yates, this novel featuring the suave Richard Chandos was warmly received by critics. Typically deft, pacey and amusing, it ‘contains every crime in the calendar and a heart-rending finale’ (A J Smithers). A companion novel to ‘Blind Corner’, ‘Blood Royal’, ‘An Eye For A Tooth’ and ‘Fire Below’. Gripping stuff.
