Gegenstand dieser Studie ist die Manuskriptakquise und die Manuskriptauswahl als ein Teil des Prozesses im Verlagswesen. Die permanente Nachfrage nach Novitäten hat zufolge, dass diese Vorgänge zu den wichtigsten Verlagstätigkeiten gehören. Aus diesem Grund soll die Erklärung der Mechanismen, die in deutschen Verlagen seit dem 20. und 21. Jahrhundert funktionieren zur Erweiterung des Literatur-Diskurses beitragen und buchwissenschaftliche sowie literaturwissenschaftliche Theorien in diesem Bereich ergänzen. Im Buch werden Kriterien analysiert, die bei der Entscheidung über die Veröffentlichung eines Textes von Bedeutung sind.
