This volume contains 13 chapters, which are extended versions of the presentations at International Conference on Inverse Problems at Fudan University, Shanghai, China, October 12-14, 2018, in honor of Masahiro Yamamoto on the occasion of his 60th anniversary. The chapters are authored by world-renowned researchers and rising young talents, and are updated accounts of various aspects of the researches on inverse problems. The volume covers theories of inverse problems for partial differential equations, regularization methods, and related topics from control theory. This book addresses a wide audience of researchers and young post-docs and graduate students who are interested in mathematical sciences as well as mathematics.
Mathematical and Numerical Approaches for Multi-Wave Inverse Problems
This proceedings volume gathers peer-reviewed, selected papers presented at the “Mathematical and Numerical Approaches for Multi-Wave Inverse Problems” conference at the Centre Internacional de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM) in Marseille, France, in April 2019. It brings the latest research into new, reliable theoretical approaches and numerical techniques for solving nonlinear and inverse problems arising in multi-wave and hybrid systems. Multi-wave inverse problems have a wide range of applications in acoustics, electromagnetics, optics, medical imaging, and geophysics, to name but a few. In turn, it is well known that inverse problems are both nonlinear and ill-posed: two factors that pose major challenges for the development of new numerical methods for solving these problems, which are discussed in detail. These papers will be of interest to all researchers and graduate students working in the fields of nonlinear and inverse problems and its applications.
Inverse Problems and Applications
This volume arose from the Third Annual Workshop on Inverse Problems, held in Stockholm on May 2-6, 2012. The proceedings present new analytical developments and numerical methods for solutions of inverse and ill-posed problems, which consistently pose complex challenges to the development of effective numerical methods. The book highlights recent research focusing on reliable numerical techniques for the solution of inverse problems, with relevance to a range of fields including acoustics, electromagnetics, optics, medical imaging, and geophysics.

This book concerns the mathematical analysis OCo modeling physical concepts, existence, uniqueness, stability, asymptotics, computational schemes, etc. OCo involved in predicting complex mechanical/acoustical behavior/response and identifying or optimizing mechanical/acoustical systems giving rise to phenomena that are either observed or aimed at. The forward problems consist in solving generally coupled, nonlinear systems of integral or partial (integer or fractional) differential equations with nonconstant coefficients. The identification/optimization of the latter, of the driving terms and/or of the boundary conditions, all of which are often affected by random perturbations, forms the class of related inverse or control problems."
Fifth International Conference on Mathematical and Numerical Aspects of Wave Propagation
This conference was held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, July 10-14, 2000. This volume contains papers presented at the conference covering a broad range of topics in theoretical and applied wave propagation in the general areas of acoustics, electromagnetism, and elasticity. Both direct and inverse problems are well represented. This volume, along with the three previous ones, presents a state-of-the-art primer for research in wave propagation. The conference is conducted by the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique with the cooperation of SIAM.

Mathematical and Numerical Aspects of Wave Propagation WAVES 2003

Mémoires de l'Autodidacte du Vieux port
Maurice Di Nocera a veillé à ce que son livre ne soit pas hyper documenté, seuls quelques faits de l’histoire marseillaise sont retenus. Il s’est bien gardé également de construire une biographie romancée, il s’attache seulement au récit familial de ses parents et de son enfance. Le livre est un compte rendu de rencontres professionnelles, politiques et artistiques. C’est aussi le témoignage d’une ascension sociale hors norme. Ce garçon d’origine modeste, sans le passage obligé des grandes écoles, s’est retrouvé assigné à des postes à responsabilité : Directeur au journal La Provence, Adjoint au maire de Marseille et Vice Président du département. Il nous confie les raisons de ce phénomène où, la chance s’accompagne de véritables qualités humaines. Maurice Di Nocera est animé d’un puissant appétit d’action, d’une énergie et d’une volonté peu communes. Il réussit tout ce qu’il entreprend. A cette constatation on peut ajouter que ce livre n’a rien d’édifiant, c’est juste un cri de vie mêlé de fierté et de joie.
