Most Wanted Killer

Jesse James Hollywood grew up in L.A.'s upscale West Hills with every imaginable privilege. By the age of 19, he owned a spacious house, a tricked-out car, a closet full of designer clothes. His lifestyle of drinking, partying and getting high was bankrolled by his chosen career: drug dealing. In 2000, Ben Markowitz, another teen from a 'good family', found himself with a dope tab he couldn't pay. A standoff between dealer and druggie exploded when Hollywood, along with William Skidmore and Jesse Rugge, both 20, spotted Ben's brother, Nick, 15, walking near his parents' home. Witnesses saw the three men attack Nick, then shove him into a van and drive off. But assault and kidnapping were only the beginning... On the last night of Nick's life, he was taken to an isolated area outside Santa Barbara known as the Lizard's Mouth. There, he was shot to death and buried in a shallow grave. But the story was far from over. Because mastermind Jesse James, like his namesake, knew how to run and hide. With his handsome face at the top of the FBI's Most Wanted list, he lived in luxury until the long arm of the law reached out to pull him back home for justice...

A searing, intimate and blisteringly honest memoir about mothers and daughters, grief and healing, and finding your voice. Minelle Mahtani had taken a leap of faith. A new mother in a new life, she'd moved across the country for love, and soon found herself facing the exciting and terrifying prospect of hosting her own radio show. But as she began to find her place in the majority white newsroom, she was handed devastating news: her Iranian mother had been diagnosed with tongue cancer. Just as Minelle was finding her voice, her mother was losing hers. What does it mean to amplify the voices of others while the stories of your ancestors are being buried in your mother's mouth? Why do we cling to superstition and luck when we’ve lost all faith in healing those we love? And how do we juggle bearing the burden of looking after an ill parent when we are trying to parent our own children? In exquisitely lyrical and inventive prose, Mahtani recounts the experience so many of us recognize: a life calibrated through calculating when to speak and when to be silent in a world that feels like it forces us to be broken.

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

Europeans first settled in what was to become the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA) in the 17th century. By the late 1800s, the Delaware Water Gap had become a popular vacation spot, attracting thousands to the palatial resorts in the mountains. Rural communities thrived in the valley until the 1960s. The DWGNRA was created in 1965 to oversee activities centered around a reservoir that was to be the result of a dam to be built on the Delaware River at Tocks Island. In anticipation of the dam, the government removed residents by purchasing or condemning property. An environmental and political war raged, and the dam was ultimately defeated. Although several historical sites were lost, many survived and a few have been restored. Today the DWGNRA is one of the country's most popular parks. Within its boundaries are rugged and beautiful wilderness, historic landmarks, and the wild and scenic Delaware River.

It was September of 1985. Nick Stavros was barely 24 years old and going nowhere fast. Two years ago, the day before he found out he had to drop out of college, his life seemed full of promise. Today, he, his best friend, Max, and their merry band of misfits sold cars by day and chased women by night.. Hung over, every morning. Broke, at the end of every week. Going nowhere fast, with nothing but blind hope ahead. It was, perhaps, Prometheus who saw their plight who sent the lightning bolt from the Heavens. On September 5, 1985, Nick Stavros and Max Davis held in their hands the only winning ticket for the Arizona Lottery's biggest jackpot ever the biggest jackpot in United States history th...

When an attempt is made to restart the particle accelerator at Geneva during August of 2015, a major disaster occurs. Scientists, who had gathered in Dublin, found they were being called upon to solve a potential catastrophe. While six personnel were the process of repairing the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) a void of accelerated mass is created, trapping the team inside. There seems little hope of survival. In fact, they have not gone anywhere. They now existed in a massless light spectrum beyond which normal vision is not possible. By rights they all should be dead, crushed by the repressurisation of the LHC. They soon realise changes are affecting their personalities as they are bombarded b...

Jacques Lawrence at your service, the voice was deep, resonant and a little lazy; Paulette looked up into warm, brown eyes, and six foot four inches of welled honed muscles. Here, let me. Simone turned her head toward the sound and there he was. Where did the oxygen go? Her eyes locked on the tall, lean, hard body in front of her. She was hot; the air conditioning must not be working. She immediately dropped her eyes down to his shoes, neat, just what I like. At your service, ladies. Jacques was studying Simone while everybody was busy being busy. His eyes covered everything, long legs, just like he liked them, a thin, athletic bodyhere is my chance, thought Jacques. He reached for her arm an...
