Gideonse is a retired university and Federal administrator. Writing from the coast of Maine, he muses on his encounters with nature, friends, love, his pets and others', family, public service, and the like. These are every day matters, to be sure, but the poems explore universals; they seek to suggest commonalities in the lives of those who read them. Patrick Gillespie, in his PoemShape blog review, writes that "Gideonse's poems are rich with an eye for color, contrast, shape, and detail. . . . He speaks with clarity, honesty, and openness . . . warmly [inviting] the reader into his life and the inspiration drawn from it."

Star artists from around the globe each draw a chapter of Mickey's wildest adventure -- from Giorgio Cavazzano (Disney Masters) to Mike Peraza (Mickey's Christmas Carol) to Marco Rota, plus dozens more! While celebrating his birthday at a carnival, Mickey crosses the threshold of a fortune-teller's mystic portal and finds himself flung headlong into an amazing journey. He encounters one phantasmagorical dimension after another -- a fractured fairy tale kingdom, a cubist realm, and outer space -- with plenty of dragons, mummies, and giant mouse-eating plants along the way. (Not to mention alternate versions of Goofy, Peg Leg Pete, and the Phantom Blot!) Can Mickey get back? How deep does this rabbit hole -- er, mouse hole -- go?

Mickey

For nine-year-old Mickey, the early fifties were not the Ozzie and Harriet fantasy of love and security. Instead, they were years of abandonment, unimaginable cruelty, and virtual slavery. This memoir reveals Mickey's devastating experiences of being handed off from one abusive person to another ... all in the name of survival.

Mickey, a memoir of short stories, was written by Ray Mickey McCoy. As he documented these memories during the last two years of his life, his intent was to compile them into a book for his descendants. The book details his boyhood obsessions with scientific experiments which often ran amuck, laughable experiences during basic training just prior to the end of World War II, and finally his career in the space program during the Apollo era. The stories are light reading and mostly humorous. An underlying theme expressed throughout the book is Mickey's belief that neurosis can be a good thing after all. This refers to the fact that his childhood obsessions became the foundation for his career in the space program, as well as a lifetime of meaningful experiences and happy memories.

What Happened to Mickey?

Until the age of 31, Donald McDonald was only ''dirty little Mickey from The Corner, '' the notorious intersection of Toronto's Jarvis and Dundas Streets in a neighbourhood known in the 1930s as ''Gangland.'' After Mickey was charged with the January 1939 murder of bookmaker Jimmy Windsor, he became a national crime figure. What followed were two murder trials, a liquor - truck hijacking, a sensational three - man escape in 1947 from Kingston Penitentiary, and a 50,000 dollar bank robbery.According to police, as gleaned from underworld informants, Mickey was killed in the 1950s in the United States ''by his own criminal associates.'' Author Peter McSherry presents several versions of McDonald's demise, one of which he endorses, and tells why it happened, delivering a compelling denouement to the chronicle of a criminal readers will never forget
