Myths of the Marble documents a group exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), University of Pennsylvania, and Henie Onstad Kunstsenter (HOK), norway. Co-organized by curators Alex Klein (ICA) and Milena Hoegsberg (HOK), the exhibition reflects upon how the virtual has been engaged by contemporary artists as a way to consider the world as a site of possibility and limitation that both permeates physical space and online experience. The accompanying catalog begins with individual profiles of each artist and expansive color images of each work, which includes painting, sculpture, and installation to video, 16-mm film, and vR technology. Informative installation views from both venues connect the essays from scholars Homay King and Tom Holert, along with artists Cayetano ferrer, florian Meisenberg, Sondra Perry, and art historians Iggy Cortez and Marina Isgro, discussing concepts ranging from the video game skybox to the complexities of the prosthetic. exhibition artists are Rachel de Joode, Cayetano ferrer, Ane Graff, Ignas Krunglevicius, Chris Marker, Daria Martin, florian Meisenberg Shahryar nashat, Sondra Perry, Jacolby Satterwhite, and Susanne M. Winterling.

Once considered an outsider artist, after her show at the Guggenheim Museum was seen by more than half-a-mil-lion visitors, Hilma af Klint firmly established her place in art history. She has also been the subject of documenta-ry films and biographies. In 2013, Iris Müller-Westermann organized the first institutional exhibition of af Klint's work. Now she presents us with the latest information and research in an extensive survey show at the Moder-na Museet in Malmö. Of crucial importance is the issue of spirituality in af Klint's painting-how she managed to translate both the material and the immaterial world into a pictorial vision. The accompanying exhibition catalogue is the first to investigate, from a variety of perspectives, the question of how this trailblazing abstract artist linked her painting to a higher consciousness. Essays by leading historians of theosophy and a quantum physicist, among others, provide enlightening insight into a world in which both the visualization of atoms and spiritual séances alike became artistic material-a world that fascinates us even more than ever.

Living Labor considers the increasing subordination of life to work. Despite economic instability, growing income gaps across countries and the rise of a migratory, flexible and underpaid labor force, our commitment to productivity is unflagging. Today, work enlists us to psychologically invest ourselves in a boundaryless work life, which seeks to instrumentalize all of our waking hours. In response to the eroding boundaries between work and life, and against the historic backdrop of the Scandinavian labor movement, the writers gathered in Living Labor propose viable forms of refusal and imagine prospects for a post-work future.

Is an in-depth introduction to the artistic practice of Lea Porsager, published on the occasion of her solo exhibition 'STRIPPED' at Moderna Museet, Stockholm. This comprehensive monograph documents Porsager?s many types of making, whether experiments, sculptures, 3D animations, or texts. Porsager?s practice persistently preserves space for instability. Through fluctuating material agency, her work meditates on excited and exhausted states?in particles as well as bodies. New and republished essays delve into Porsager?s proclivity for experimentation, speculations, and manifestations that collide different concepts of energy, knowledge, and spirituality.00Exhibition: Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweden (21.11.2020-14.02.2021).

Josef Albers: No Tricks, No Twinkling of the Eyes

Josef Albers: no tricks, no twinkling of the eyes presents a reading of Albers' practice through the lens of contemporary artists, writers and art historians, who negotiate the relevance of both his educational and artistic legacy today.Selections of Albers' own writing are dispersed throughout the book, offering a rich glance into his dedication to pedagogy and art, and the pioneering ideas that still resonate with contemporary art practitioners.Richly illustrated, the publication spans Albers' production over sixty years and highlight the dexterity of Albers' practice and not least his commitment to creating complex perceptual and spatial experiences through deceivingly simple compositions of colors and lines. The design of the book by Jeanne Betak has been conceived with great consideration to both the material and visual flow, following Albers' own love of materiality and typography.

Torbjørn Rødland

This richly illustrated book presents Sasquatch Century, a mid-career survey of Norwegian artist Torbjørn Rødland.Since the mid-1990s, Rødland has interpreted visual culture in an entirely distinctive way. This exhibition takes viewers into his enticing and ambiguous visual language through a broad selection of his photographic works from the past 20 years.Sasquatch is the name of the elusive, hairy, humanoid creature popularly known as Bigfoot. The Sasquatch has been solidified in mythology and popular culture through a simultaneous belief in and denial of its existence. As such, the enduring phenomenon embodies many of the artist's interests in activating the tension between myth and reality, between the familiar and ungraspable, and the constructed and authentic. With an incisive photographic consciousness, Rødland takes on subject matter and motives that have often become cliché ridden and drained of their symbolic power.Published on the occasion of the exhibition Torbjørn Rødland: Sasquatch Century at Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Oslo, 23 January - 26 April 2015.
