Este livro propõe-se a fazer um trabalho realizando uma convergência entre duas perspectivas. A primeira consiste em mobilizar o conhecimento acadêmico com o propósito de estimular a pesquisa sobre relações entre violência e cultura, mais especificamente, entre violência, melancolia e literatura. Para isso, serão trazidas ideias de diversas áreas, como teoria da literatura, filosofia, ciências sociais, psicanálise, política e história.
