Embodying Peripheries
This book combines approaches from the design disciplines, humanities, and social sciences to foster interdisciplinary engagement across geographies around the identities embodied in and of peripheries. Peripheral communities bear human faces and names, necessitating specific modes of inquiry and commitments that prioritize lived human experience and cultural expression. Hence, the peripheries of this book are a question, not a given, the answers to which are contingent forms assembled around embodied identities. Peripheries are urban fringes, periphery countries in the modern world-system, Indigenous lands, occupied territories, or the peripheries of authoritative knowledge, among others. No form can exist outside historical relations of power enacted through knowledge, political structures, laws, and regulations.

La tecnologia fa ormai parte della quotidianità delle famiglie e, con l’avvento del Covid-19, l’universo digitale si è espanso ulteriormente e con rapidità. La particolarità di questo testo è di leggere il fenomeno a partire dagli effetti che ha sul corpo, considerando tanto le risorse quanto le criticità che si accompagnano all’utilizzo di web e tecnologie: cyberbullismo, fruizione senza limiti, contenuti non adatti all’età sono, infatti, solo alcuni dei rischi che possono incontrare i soggetti in via di sviluppo, apripista rispetto alle novità, ai cambiamenti digitali e alle prese con device, immagini, relazioni e realtà sempre in evoluzione.
Veganesimo e famiglia
Molti vegani spesso lamentano incomprensione, scherno, rabbia e insofferenza da parte della famiglia per la loro scelta etica. Reazioni così ostili e rancorose proprio dalle persone più vicine! Che interesse avrà mai la famiglia ad osteggiare questa profonda e radicata scelta morale? Perché tanta ansia, tanto coinvolgimento, tanta preoccupazione? Perciò mi sono interrogato sul carattere marcatamente ansioso, ostile e rabbioso, della risposta della famiglia alla scelta vegana, un atteggiamento e un comportamento di evidente carattere difensivo. Sempre le stesse reazioni: l'incomunicabilità più completa, la morte del dialogo. In questo saggio ho tentato una lettura in chiave interpersonale del problema del rapporto del vegano con la sua famiglia in primis e dei comportamenti di difesa di entrambe le parti nella situazione interpersonale ormai compromessa.
La responsabilità dello spettatore
L’arrivo del nuovo millennio ha determinato una trasformazione nell’arte contemporanea che investe soprattutto la sua funzione sociale ed instaura un nuovo rapporto con lo spettatore. Con l’irrompere prepotente sulla scena di nuovi strumenti di comunicazione, l’avvento dei social e di forme d’arte che ne sfruttano le nuove potenzialità, occorre sorvegliare con attenzione ciò che si acquista e ciò che si perde con queste attuali forme di intermediazione. Attraverso l’esperienza artistica di Mario Fallini, che lavora soprattutto sulla relazione tra parola e immagine, e l’analisi delle sue opere, questa proposta intende individuare e misurare il nuovo rapporto che si instaura nei meccanismi di produzione tra artista e spettatore, alla luce di un processo di democratizzazione del fare intellettuale cui si è assistito negli ultimi trent’anni e, contestualmente, rilevare criticamente gli aspetti più inquietanti che ne derivano. Da qui un nuovo assetto del lettore-spettatore e delle sue nuove sfide nella gestione della libertà e della responsabilità.
