b>Clinical Electrocardiography Electrocardiography is a transthoracic recording over a period of time. Electrical activity is detected and recorded via electrodes attached to the outer surface of the skin. The recording produced by this noninvasive procedure is termed as electrocardiogram. ECGs are used to measure the rate and regularity of heartbeats as well as the size and position of the chambers, the presence of any damage to the heart, and the effects of drugs or devices used to regulate the heart. Clinical Electrocardiography is the clearest and most accessible guide available to the application and interpretation of the ECG in clinical practice. The book proceeds from the belief that ...
This guide to the proper use of the ECG in diagnosing acutemyocardial infarction puts the combined experience of internationalauthorities at your fingertips for immediate use. In The 12 LeadECG in ST Elevation MI: A Practical Approach for Clinicians,Drs. Bayés de Luna, Fiol-Sala and Antman supply the practical, specific information you need to determine which patients with ACSare showing ST elevation. To facilitate correct diagnosis and guide management, theauthors use a consistent sequence to explain the ECG abnormalitiesfor each site of coronary occlusion. A schematic of the coronarytree illustrates the point of occlusion. The second part of the book contains a self-assessment section witha series of 15 cases, each of which includes one or more 12-leadECGs for analysis. These valuable examples help you prepare foron-the-spot interpretation in the emergency department or intensivecare unit.
The ECG is a fundamental diagnostic tool in cardiology, allowingaccurate diagnosis and monitoring of acute and chronic ischemicheart disease. In this most comprehensive book of its kind, internationally renowned authors correlate electrocardiographicrecordings with anatomical patterns of myocardial ischemia toimprove the diagnosis and management of patients with ischemicheart disease. The book is structured in two sections. Part One coverselectrocardiographic patterns of ischemia, injury andinfarction. • Each chapter discusses a different ECG abnormality inturn, clearly explaining the ischemic insults andelectrophysiological mechanisms underlying each pattern to promoterapid and accurate in...
A fresh assessment of ischemic electrocardiography, its prognostic correlations, and the concepts and principles that underlie its use The electrocardiogram (ECG) is integral to the accurate diagnosis and optimal management of patients with ischemic heart disease. Picking up a wide range of indicators, it provides valuable prognostic data to cardiologists and emergency medicine specialists for whom ECG readings are a trusted and everyday resource. Electrocardiography in Ischemic Heart Disease is designed to help enhance such clinicians' understanding of ECG recordings and their relationship to anatomical patterns of myocardial ischemia, thereby facilitating the continued improvement of patie...
In the last 15 years we have had the opportunity to teach Electrocardiography to many different types of student: doctors preparing to become cardiologists, cardiologists attending weekly 'refresher' sessions at our hospital, general practitioners who wish to become adept at electrocardiography and attend our yearly courses and, finally, the medical students of the Universidad Aut6noma of Barcelona. We cover everything with these students from the basics of electrophysiology to applied electrocardiographic semiology. This quadruple experience has proved stimulating, constantly motivating the search for better and more precise material, and the most appropriate didactic presentation for each type of student, each of whom has different requirements. I have always felt that didactic capability is not related to the intelligence of the professor, or to the amount of knowledge this person possesses, but really depends on the 'quality' of this knowledge, the 'desire' to transmit it and the 'capacity' to adapt to each teaching situation.
Mastery of ECG interpretation is achieved not only by pattern recognition, but equally importantly, by a clear, practical understanding of how electricity moves through the heart and how disruption of that movement manifests itself via ECG tracings. ECGs for Beginners, written by one of the world's most respected electrophysiologists with over 40 years experience of training clinicians, will provide cardiology and electrophysiology trainees with an easy to follow, step-by-step guide to the topic, thus enabling them to both understand and interpret ECG readings in order to to best manage their patients. Packed with over 250 high-quality ECG tracings, as well as management algorithms and key p...
Como editor de la JACC (Journal of the American College of Cardiology)...
