Anicka Yi
Artist Anicka Yi's work involves scent, tactility and perishability as a means to reconfigure the epistemological and sensorial terms of a predominantly visual art world. At MIT, Yi has explored MIT's cutting-edge research in designing materials with unique biological properties. Yi is not only interested in materials research, but also in what collaboration between individuals and disciplines might mean in relation to friendship. Drawing upon philosopical and critical writings, Yi explores the political and ethical ramifications of these interactions.

Tony Conrad (1940-2016) was a pioneering American avant-garde video artist, experimental filmmaker, musician, composer, sound artist, teacher, and writer.Throughout his six-decade career he forged a unique path through numerous artistic movements and defined a vast range of culture, including rock music and public access television.In music, Conrad was an early member of the Theatre of Eternal Music (The Dream Syndicate), which included John Cale and La Monte Young. Before Projection
Before Projection: Video Sculpture 1974-1995 shines a spotlight on a historical moment and a body of work in the history of media art that has been largely overlooked since its inception. The exhibition explores the connections between our current moment and the point at which video art was transformed dramatically with the entry of large-scale, cinematic installation into the gallery space. This exhibition will present a re-evaluation of monitor-based sculpture since the 1970’s and serve as a tightly focused survey of works that have been rarely seen in the last twenty years.
