"This dictionary represents a "root" approach to recognizing and dealing with Mohawk descriptive units of expression. The root of any descriptive unit in the Mohawk language represents the smallest possible piece of information that the speaker uses to build expressions and descriptions of the world about them. It is from these roots that the language grows. Theoretically, knowing the roots of the language would provide the learning with extensive insight into the language techniques that the native speaker inherently uses to build the language for themselves on their road to becoming speakers. This particular reference text is intended to be used in conjunction with the teaching text "Akwekon Tetewakhanyon - Let's Put It All Together" which takes the student on a step by step approach to building the Mohawk language using the roots of Mohawk description as the building blocks of language acquistion in a way similar to the natural language acquisition process used by children."-- Introduction.
