Ve druhém díle slavných Tří mužů se s Harrisem, Georgem a Jeromem vydáme na převážně cyklistický, ale hlavně humorný výlet do Evropy Tři dobří přátelé, kteří se před časem vydali na plavbu po Temži v knize Tři muži ve člunu, by rádi vyrazili na další pánskou jízdu. Plány jim lehounce komplikují a zpestřují manželky a děti a tandemová kola, ale všechny překážky se podaří překonat a tentokrát se vydají do Evropy, dokonce navštíví Prahu. Druhý díl Tří mužů mají mnozí současní čtenáři ještě raději než první. A opět je to humorné a opět naprosto současné.
Robinson Crusoe
Učte se četbou a poslechem anglické beletrie Kdo by neznal Robinsona Crusoa od anglického spisovatele Daniela Defoa. Je vlastně zobrazením tzv. self-made mana, muže, který dokáže stát na vlastních nohou a sám se vypracovat. Příběh odráží dobu, ve které kniha vznikla: sílící kolonialismus provázený ekonomickým individualismem. Naše zjednodušená verze prochází zkrácenou formou všemi důležitými místy románu. Hlavně potom těžištěm příběhu: pobytem Robinsona na ostrově. Účelem je rozšířit slovní zásobu i schopnost rychle a bezpečně porozumět mluvené angličtině. Reanimated Voices
"Reanimated Voices" addresses three activities: reporters evoking speech events; interpreters (re)constituting those speech events; and historical pragmaticians eavesdropping in time on the reporters and interpreters. Can one reconstruct aspects of pragmatic competence on the basis of written texts only? "Reanimated Voices" answers this in the affirmative. It offers a methodology for historical-pragmatic reconstruction to explain the synchronic patterns of variation in premodern writings. "Reanimated Voices" examines the distribution of reporting strategies in a corpus of medieval Russian texts. Forms preferred in specific recurring contexts are matched with the need(s) served by those contexts a fit reflecting collective intentionality. Occasional "residual forms" -strategies that appear in contexts where others predominate- also reflect cooperative behavior; they index utterances departing from the prototype or unusual configurations of participants. Thus Reanimated Voices explores reporting as an activity of rational agents coordinating interpretation in accordance with cultural and institutional notions of relevance.
Online Maps with APIs and WebServices
The Internet has become the major form of map delivery. The current presentation of maps is based on the use of online services. This session examines developments related to online methods of map delivery, particularly Application Programmer Interfaces (APIs) and MapServices in general, including Google Maps API and similar services. Map mashups have had a major impact on how spatial information is presented. The advantage of using a major online mapping site is that the maps represent a common and recognizable representation of the world. Overlaying features on top of these maps provides a frame of reference for the map user. A particular advantage for thematic mapping is the ability to spatially reference thematic data.

The authors presentation, using performance directions, allows the reader to see and hear old Nyaviyuyi as she, through word, voice, tone and gesture, mocks nosy wives, and celebrates the devotion of friendship and parental love.
