Over the next 175 years, William Blackwood & Sons became one of the leading publishers in Britain, enjoying both local and international success. Early on it championed the works of Scottish writers, and later gained acclaim as the publisher of G.W. Steevens, George Eliot, Charles Whibley, and Joseph Conrad. Descendants of the Ferguson Families
John Ferguson (1749-1827) and wife, Frances Triplett moved from Virginia to Wilkes County, North Carolina prior to 1835. Descendants lived in Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Wyoming, Oregon, California, Washington, Utah and elsewhere. Descendants include Mormons.
