The Workshop on Approximation and Online Algorithms (WAOA 2003) focused on the design and analysis of algorithms for online and computationally hard problems. Dynamics in Logistics
This open access book highlights the interdisciplinary aspects of logistics research. Featuring empirical, methodological, and practice-oriented articles, it addresses the modelling, planning, optimization and control of processes. Chiefly focusing on supply chains, logistics networks, production systems, and systems and facilities for material flows, the respective contributions combine research on classical supply chain management, digitalized business processes, production engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and mathematical optimization. Automata, Languages and Programming
The two-volume set LNCS 6755 and LNCS 6756 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 38th International Colloquium on Automata, Languages and Programming, ICALP 2011, held in Zürich, Switzerland, in July 2011. Algorithms - ESA 2008
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th Annual European Symposium on Algorithms, ESA 2008, held in Karlsruhe, Germany, in September 2008 in the context of the combined conference ALGO 2008. The 67 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited lectures were carefully reviewed and selected: 51 papers out of 147 submissions for the design and analysis track and 16 out of 53 submissions in the engineering and applications track. The papers address all current subjects in algorithmics reaching from design and analysis issues of algorithms over to real-world applications and engineering of algorithms in various fields. Special focus is given to mathematical programming and operations research, including combinatorial optimization, integer programming, polyhedral combinatorics and network optimization.

On- and Offline Scheduling of Bidirectional Traffic
This book provides theoretical and practical insights related to bidirectional traffic on a stretch containing bottleneck segments. On a bottleneck segment concurrent traveling of vehicles in opposite direction is not possible. The book is motivated by and considers in particular the ship traffic at the Kiel Canal. It connects the North and Baltic Seas and is operated in both directions. In addition, considerations are included that account for the fact that ships register their requests only shortly before their arrival such that scheduling decisions must be adapted online.
Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 24th International Conference on Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization, IPCO 2023, held in Madison, WI, USA, during June 21–23, 2023. IPCO is under the auspices of the Mathematical Optimization Society, and it is an important forum for presenting present recent developments in theory, computation, and applications.
