This document compiles information on significant undeveloped mineral deposits in the Northwest Territories, some of which require further exploration and others of which require imaginative solutions to transportation and infrastructure obstacles to development. An introduction reviews the territorial mining industry and the types of mineral deposits found. The document then examines 49 sites of significant mineralisation, most of which host undeveloped deposits with large tonnages and significant grades. Several once-mined sites that still contain abundant future reserves are also included, as well as smaller deposits with high mineral potential in less-explored regions. The deposits are presented in sections by region: central mainland, eastern mainland, western mainland, and Arctic islands.
