Hyperdocumentation
The term "hyperdocumentation" is a hyperbole that seems to characterize a paradox. The leading discussions on this topic bring in diverse ideas such as that of data, the fantasy of Big Data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, algorithmic processing, the flow of information and the outstanding successes of disinformation. The purpose of this book is to show that the current context of documentation is just another step in human construction that has been ongoing for not centuries but millennia and which, since the end of the 19th century, has been accelerating. Coined by Paul Otlet in 1934 in his Traite de Documentation, "hyperdocumentation" refers to the concept of documentation that is constantly being expanded and extended in its functionalities and prerogatives. While, according to Otlet, everything could potentially be documented in this way, increasingly we find that it is our lives that are being hyperdocumented. Hyperdocumentation manifests as an increase not only in the quantity of information that is processed but also in its scope, as information is progressively integrated across areas that were previously poorly documented or even undocumented.
Digital Humanities
Where do the digital humanities really come from? Are they really news? What are the theoretical and technical influences that participate in this scientific field that arouses interest and questions? This book tries to show and explain the main theories and methods that have allowed their current constitution. The aim of the book is to propose a new way to understand the history of digital humanities in a broader perspective than the classic history with the project of Robert Busa. The short digital humanities perspective neglects lots of actors and disciplines. The book tries to show the importance of other fields than humanities computing like scientometry, infometry, econometry, mathematical linguistics, geography and documentation.

Les humanités digitales sont devenues à la mode et symbolisent la volonté de renouvellement des sciences humaines et sociales. Toutefois, leur histoire est souvent présentée de manière restreinte et réduite. Cet ouvrage présente de nouvelles perspectives épistémologiques et historiques pour mieux appréhender l’histoire des humanités digitales, notamment en examinant les liens avec les méthodes d’accès à l’information. Il remonte aux premières logiques constitutives de réseaux d’échanges depuis les différentes Républiques des Lettres en passant par les dispositifs d’indexation des connaissances. Les humanités digitales cherche à analyser les transformations actuelles de ce domaine en considérant qu’il s’agit d’une évolution plutôt que d’une révolution et participe donc d’une archéologie des savoirs et des méthodes ; en dépassant les débats et les réussites actuels du mouvement des humanités digitales, cet ouvrage tente de relater les formes et les normes qui ont permis petit à petit son développement et son apparition.

Les bibliothécaires, les documentalistes ne disparaîtront pas avec l'avènement du document numérique: leurs métiers vont changer, et sans doute s'enrichir. Olivier Le Deuff se propose, après une partie introductive et historique, de préciser ce qu'est une culture de l'information, ce qu'elle implique de la part des professionnels qui ont à la traiter, et des usagers qui doivent la repérer et s'y retrouver. Il développe longuement les rôles et missions des bibliothécaires et documentalistes dans ce monde technique (informatique) et professionnel (le classement et les architectures de l'information). Il précise la place nouvelle des lecteurs, usagers, internautes, et les fonctions indispensables de médiation qui sont attachées à ces nouveaux supports. Il replace la formation de chacun comme préalable à ces nouvelles compétences. Cet ouvrage, à la fois théorique, pratique et prospectif, s'adresse aux professionnels des bibliothèques et de la documentation.

Business News in the Early Modern Atlantic World
Business News in the Early Modern Atlantic World explores the creation, dissemination, and consumption of a specific type of news, ‘business news’, within early modern commercial news networks.
