From Zuid-Holland to South Holland
In the mid-19th century, many Dutch immigrants were drawn to the Midwestern United States. Most were farmers, escaping low salaries and high taxes in the Netherlands. My great-grandparents were among these, settling in the south part of Chicago and nearby. This area was called Roseland and South Holland. Families from among these immigrants founded the Dutch or First Reformed Church of Roseland. An important part of their settlement was the Dutch or First Reform Church of Roseland. As it grew so did the families. This is the genealogy of the ancestors of my mother's parents. It was done for our family, but others may find it useful. The main trees included are Vanderbilt, DeVos and VanVuuren. The genealogies within the U.S. are quite solid. The rest may require some verification. Genetic Preservation of Plant Cells in Vitro
The long-term storage and maintenance of viable plant cells and organs is an area of active concern across the range of pure and applied plant sciences. In academic, government and commercial laboratories, the extended storage of propagules of one sort or another, with maximum protection of the genome from mutation and altered expression, is often a very necessary activity that can draw heavily on resources and effort. However, preservation per se is typically not an activity in its own right, but a facilitating technology that is part of a larger programme of work. Consequently, there are many laboratories that do not have the benefit of a specialist in storage technology, and have to delegate the responsibility to individuals, or teams, who are faced with a daunting learning curve. To maximise the chances of success, in the shortest possible time and with minimum losses, these researchers need sources of reference that are au thoritative and soundly based in practical experience.
The Vision Zero Petition
In the aftermath of losing our two youngest daughters, AnnaLeah (17) and Mary (13), due to a truck underride crash on May 4, 2013, we became aware of far too many facts about tra ffic fatalities. In an e ffort to do more than just put a bandaid on the problem, we launched a campaign to call for major change in how safety laws and regulations are determined. Th€is book is a compilation of our request for a National Vision Zero Goal and for a Vision Zero rulemaking policy. It includes our petition letters to President Obama and DOT Secretary Foxx--along with the signatures and comments of thousands of people who signed the petitions and are speaking up with us to call for a move Towards Zero Crash Deaths & Serious Injuries.

The first symposium of the working group on experimental urology of the German Society of Urology was held in Cologne in 1972. It was meant to be a platform to present and, in particular, to discuss experimental studies developing new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, and to promote in novation in urology in Germany.
