Entangled Future Im/mobilities
How are im/mobilities articulated, imagined and practiced in relation to multiple futures? A critical examination of im/mobilities raises questions as to how power relations and crisis-driven futures enable, inhibit or prevent mobility, what meanings are culturally constructed around im/mobilities and how they are experienced. The contributors to this volume look at entangled future mobilities and immobilities using humanities and social science approaches in diverse examples: Afrofuturist poetry, de-extinction projects, dystopian novels, a Uruguayan planned relocation program, lives of rural Zambian women, climate adaptation in Morocco and Austrian financial literacy policy.

Haben wir (noch) eine (offene) Zukunft? Diese Frage drängt sich angesichts komplexer Krisen wie Pandemien, Klimawandel und Kriegen wieder verstärkt auf. Die Beiträger*innen gehen von der These aus, dass Erzählmuster, die Zukünfte entwerfen, unsere Erwartungen zwischen Sorge und Zuversicht machtvoll prägen. Sie gehen verschiedenen Zukunftsnarrativen nach: in Gegenwartsliteratur(en), im Film, in Coronadebatten, in der Klimapolitik, im Kontext von KI, in Formen der Zukunftsprophetie, in Utopien und in eschatologischen Traditionen. Dabei wird das menschliche Potential, kreativ die Zukunft im Medium der Sprache zu konstruieren und damit Wirkmacht in der Gegenwart zu entfalten, eindrücklich sichtbar.
Migration and Remittances
In this title, the editors draw together key articles by leading scholars which investigate the significance and role of remittances in economic and social development. They examine topics including reflections on methodology, the motives and determinants of remittances, their socio-economic impacts (especially at the household level), the role of community organisations and social remittances, and the broad social and cultural impacts of remittances. Special attention is given to small island and Central Asian states, where remittances are of particular significance. The collection traces the recent historical evolution of remittances and concludes with an examination of policy implications in both sending and receiving countries.

This report focuses on the possible future scenarios for climate change, natural disasters and migration and development, looking to increase awareness and find answers to the challenges that lie ahead. It states that even though it is defined as a growing crisis, the consequences of climate change for human population are unclear and unpredictable. The study points out that scientific basis for climate change is increasingly well established, and confirms that current predictions as to the "carrying capacity" in large parts of the world will be compromised by climate change.
Black Travel Writing
What does it mean for Black diasporic writers to travel to Africa? Focusing on the period between the 1990s and 2010s, Isabel Kalous examines autobiographical narratives of travel to Africa by African American and Black British authors. She places the texts within the long tradition of Black diasporic engagement with the continent, scrutinizes the significance of Black mobility, and demonstrates that travel writing serves as a means to negotiate questions of identity, belonging, history, and cultural memory. To provide a framework for the analyses of contemporary narratives, her study outlines the emergence, development, and key characteristics of the multifaceted genre of Black travel writing. Authors discussed include, among others, Saidiya Hartman, Barack Obama, and Caryl Phillips.

Debarchana Baruah offers a vocabulary to discuss these, using Mad Men as a primary case study and supplementing the analysis with other examples from the US and around the world.
