Hypertension is a major cause of cerebral accidents, cardiac disease and renal failure. Essential or secondary hypertension occur in between 15-20 per cent of the population. The leading risk factors are family history, race, stress, obesity, a high intake of saturate fats or sodium, tobacco use, sedentary lifestyle, and aging. It may also be caused by other diseases, medical events, or taking of drugs of a wide variety. Most cases of hypertension are treatable although prolonged elevated blood pressure can lead to severe consequences including death. This new book gathers leading research from around the world on the etiology, pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this widespread disease.
This book is well-structured book which consists of 31 full chapters. The book chapters' deal with the recent research problems in the areas of modeling, control and drug development, and it presents various techniques of COVID-19 outbreak prevention modeling. The book also concentrates on computational simulations that may help speed up the development of drugs to counter the novel coronavirus responsible for COVID-19. This is an open access book.

This two-volume book presents an abundance of important information on the bioactive and pharmacological properties of medicinal plants. It provides valuable comprehensive research and studies on bioactive phytocompounds of over 68 important medicinal plants with beneficial properties. For each species included in the volume, a brief introduction is given along with their bioactive compounds and chemical structures, followed by their chief pharmacological activities that include antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, and cardioprotective activities. A review of the published literature on pharmacological activi...
A classic nephrology reference for over 20 years, Seldin & Giebisch's The Kidney, is the acknowledged authority on renal physiology and pathophysiology. The fourth edition follows the changed focus of nephrology research to the study of how individual molecules work together to affect cellular and organ function, emphasizing the mechanisms of disease. With over 40 new chapters and over 1000 illustrations, this edition offers the most in-depth discussion anywhere of the physiologic and pathophysiologic processes of renal disease. Comprehensive, authoritative coverage progresses from molecular biology and cell physiology to clinical issues regarding renal function and dysfunction. If you resea...
This 2-volume book set, Phytochemistry and Pharmacology of Medicinal Plants, introduces and provides extensive coverage of 79 important medicinal plant species. Each chapter, written by noted experts in the field, focuses on one important medicinal plant, giving a brief introduction about the species and then delving into the plant’s bioactive phytochemicals along with its chemical structures and pharmacological activities. A wide array of biological activities and potential health benefits of the medicinal plant—which includes antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic properties as well as protective effects on liver, kidney, heart and nervous system—are given. An extensive collection of research literature on pharmacological activities on that species is reviewed. This volume, published under the AAP Focus on Medicinal Plants book series, edited by the accomplished editor, T. Pullaiah, who has taught, researched, written, and published on medicinal plants for over 35 years, will be an important reference resource for years to come for both new and experienced medicinal researchers.
Photography allows one to capture the world around them with a press of the shutter. IG Bhopal is the first Photography community of Bhopal and Madhya Pradesh which came into action with this concept of showcasing talents of Madhya Pradesh. April 2016 marks the humble beginning of IG Bhopal. It is a non- profit organisation promoting the talents of budding as well as professional photographers. Serving as a platform to showcase the photography skills and also giving opportunity to learn basic and technical concepts of photography through photowalks and theme based photography sessions like street photography, night photography, portrait session, landscape, wildlife etc.Till now 45 photowalks,7 exhibitions,5 trips,3 workshop and 4 competitions are being successfully conducted by IG Bhopal.
In this book, Dr. Vliet continues her crusade to debunk myths and misinformation on women's health.
Sex Hormones not only regulate reproductive function, but they also play a prominent role in the biology and physiology of several organs/tissues and in the pathophysiology of several diseases. During the last two decades, the information on the mechanisms of action of sex hormones, such as estrogens and androgens, has rapidly evolved from the conventional nuclear receptor dependent mechanisms to include additional non-nuclear, non-genomic and receptor-independent mechanisms. This highlights the need to update the current knowledge on sex hormones and their mode of action. Increasing evidence that exogenous/epigenetic factors can influence sex hormone production and action highlights the need to update our knowledge on the mechanisms involved. This book provides a systematic and updated overview of the male/female sex-hormones and their impact in the biology and physiology of various organs. Additionally, the book discusses their positive and negative association with the pathophysiology of various diseases (e.g. osteoporosis, cardiovascular-disease, hypogonadism, reproduction, cancer) and their therapeutic potential.
