This book presents the combined proceedings of three workshops which make up part of the 6th International Conference on Intelligent Environments. The remarkable advances in computer sciences throughout the last few decades are already making an impact
Our homes anticipate when we want to wake up. Our computers predict what music we want to buy. Our cars adapt to the way we drive. In today’s world, even washing machines, rice cookers and toys have the capability of autonomous decision-making. As we grow accustomed to computing power embedded in our surroundings, it becomes clear that these ‘smart environments’, with a number of devices controlled by a coordinating system capable of ‘ambient intelligence’, will play an ever larger role in our lives. This handbook provides readers with comprehensive, up-to-date coverage in what is a key technological field. . Systematically dealing with each aspect of ambient intelligence and smart...
This volume includes proceedings articles presented at the Workshop on Paralinguistic Information and its Integration in Spoken Dialogue Systems held in Granada, Spain. The material focuses on the three broad areas of spoken dialogue systems for robotics, emotions and spoken dialogue systems, and Spoken dialogue systems for real-world applications The workshop proceedings are part of the 3rd Annual International Workshop on Spoken Dialogue Systems, which brings together researchers from all over the world working in the field of spoken dialogue systems. It provides an international forum for the presentation of research and applications, and for lively discussions among researchers as well as industrialists.
Dialogue systems are a very appealing technology with an extraordinary future. Spoken, Multilingual and Multimodal Dialogues Systems: Development and Assessment addresses the great demand for information about the development of advanced dialogue systems combining speech with other modalities under a multilingual framework. It aims to give a systematic overview of dialogue systems and recent advances in the practical application of spoken dialogue systems. Spoken Dialogue Systems are computer-based systems developed to provide information and carry out simple tasks using speech as the interaction mode. Examples include travel information and reservation, weather forecast information, directo...
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing and Ambient Intelligence, UCAmI 2012, held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, in December 2012. The 70 research papers were carefully reviewed and selected from various submissions. The main focus of this book has been to explore how Ambient Intelligence can contribute towards smarter but still more sustainable environments. Beyond sustainable computing the proceedings also include research work describing progress on other key research topics for AmI such as human environment mobile-mediated (through NFC or AR) interaction, artificial intelligence techniques to foster user- and context-aware environment adaptation, future internet trends such as social networks analysis, linked data or crowd-sourcing applied to AmI, internet-connected object ecosystems collaborating to give place to smarter environments.
The present book contains a collection of the best papers presented at the 5th International Conference on Interacción Persona Ordenador (IPO) (which is Human Computer Interaction in Spanish), which took place in th th Lleida on May 5 -7 , 2004. This conference was co-organised by the Universitat of Lleida and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Each year this conference is promoted by the Asociación para la Interacción Persona Ordenador (AIPO), the Spanish Human Computer Interaction Association, in collaboration with the local group of ACM- SIGCHI (CHISPA). In its fifth edition this conference has become a multidisciplinary forum for the discussion and dissemination of novelty research ...
These proceedings presents the state-of-the-art in spoken dialog systems with applications in robotics, knowledge access and communication. It addresses specifically: 1. Dialog for interacting with smartphones; 2. Dialog for Open Domain knowledge access; 3. Dialog for robot interaction; 4. Mediated dialog (including crosslingual dialog involving Speech Translation); and,5. Dialog quality evaluation. These articles were presented at the IWSDS 2012 workshop.
This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Spanish Conference, IberSPEECH 2012: Joint VII “Jornadas en Tecnología del Habla” and III Iberian SLTech Workshop, held in Madrid, Spain, in November 21-23, 2012. The 29 revised papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 80 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on speaker characterization and recognition; audio and speech segmentation; pathology detection and speech characterization; dialogue and multimodal systems; robustness in automatic speech recognition; applications of speech and language technologies.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Workshop on Ambient Assisted Living, IWAAL 2014, held in Belfast, UK, in December 2014. The 42 full papers presented with 12 papers of the workshop WAGER 2014 and 10 papers of a special session HTA were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The focus of the papers is on following topics: ADL detection, recognition, classification; behavioural changes, coaching and education; AAL design and technical evaluation; expression, mood and speech recognition; health monitoring, risk prediction and assessment; localization; and user preferences, usability, AAL acceptance and adoption.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th Conference of the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence, CAEPIA 2018, held in Granada, Spain, in October 2018. The 36 full papers presented were carefully selected from 240 submissions. The Conference of the Spanish Association of Artificial Intelligence (CAEPIA) is a biennial forum open to researchers from all over the world to present and discuss their latest scientific and technological advances in Antificial Intelligence (AI). Authors are kindly requested to submit unpublished original papers describing relevant research on AI issues from all points of view: formal, methodological, technical or applied.
