Technoculture in Margaret Atwood’s Science Fiction Novels
The contemporary mediation between technoscience and philosophy offers overwhelming insights into the literary-critical domain of thought. This book conceptualizes an enriching engagement with questions pertaining to the notion of technology and how its blend with cultural facets makes comprehensive room for the reconstitution of the literary landscape in Atwood’s science fiction (SF) novels. Ranging from the technologies of disciplinary and bio-corporeal power to theorizing gender politics of cyborgian, nomadic and humanoid bodies, from technologizing the consumption of hybrid edibles and lingual epistemology to discerning the hyperreal dimensions of archived tech-memoirs, video gaming and digital sex, the book takes a philosophical approach to technocultural studies, a newly emerging interdisciplinary methodology. Corpus Stylistics in Heart of Darkness and Its Italian Translations
This book explores the interaction between corpus stylistics and translation studies. It shows how corpus methods can be used to compare literary texts to their translations, through the analysis of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and four of its Italian translations. The comparison focuses on stylistic features related to the major themes of Heart of Darkness. By combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, Mastropierro discusses how alterations to the original's stylistic features can affect the interpretation of the themes in translation. The Atlantic Forest
The Atlantic Forest is one of the 36 hotspots for biodiversity conservation worldwide. It is a unique, large biome (more than 3000 km in latitude; 2500 in longitude), marked by high biodiversity, high degree of endemic species and, at the same time, extremely threatened. Approximately 70% of the Brazilian population lives in the area of this biome, which makes the conflict between biodiversity conservation and the sustainability of the human population a relevant issue. This book aims to cover: 1) the historical characterization and geographic variation of the biome; 2) the distribution of the diversity of some relevant taxa; 3) the main threats to biodiversity, and 4) possible opportunities to ensure the biodiversity conservation, and the economic and social sustainability. Also, it is hoped that this book can be useful for those involved in the development of public policies aimed at the conservation of this important global biome.

The book has a preface by Ed Motta, one of the greatest collectors and connoisseurs of Led Zeppelin's work in Brazil, and postscript by young guitarist Sebastião Reis, the son of musician Nando Reis, what confirms that the band has crossed generations. The layout and cover bear the signature of Tomás Paoni, the artistic director of the project. The cover photo is by Marcos Hermes, a great photographer in the Brazilian music market. Ecology and Conservation of Mountaintop grasslands in Brazil
This book is a pioneer attempt to bring forward the first synthesis on the most diverse and threatened mountain top vegetation of South America, the rupestrian grasslands. It brings to light the state of the art information on this ecosystem geology, soil formation and distribution, environmental filters that lead to biodiversity, species interactions and their fine tuned adaptations to survive the harsh mountain environment. The human dimensions of the rupestrian grassland are also addressed, including the anthropogenic threats that may irreversibly impact biodiversity and ecosystem services. The book also highlights the ongoing studies on ecological restoration and first attempt to model the impacts of climate change on its speciose biota.
Social dialogue and the role of the brazilian labour inspection in dealing with the new Coronavirus pandemic
Social dialogue and labour inspection are essential to promote and achieve decent work and are also important in times of crisis. After a brief historical review of social dialogue in Brazil in recent years, the experience of the Brazilian labour inspection in dealing with the crisis caused by the new coronavirus pandemic is described and later compared with the practices adopted by labour inspectorates in other countries. Data collection includes interviews with two social partners and an international survey with the participation of representatives from twelve countries. In the end, guidelines are proposed on how the performance of labour inspection and the use of social dialogue should be in the face of a crisis with negative economic effects in order to overcome it quickly and without major problems, generating beneficial and lasting results in the world of work and helping to recover the economy.

The application of Campbell's famous Monomyth, or Hero's Journey, did not prove particularly successful when it comes to this series, which leads to a series of ponderations about its universality and the role point of view plays in this debate. "A Song of Ice and Fire" is a masterpiece of fantasy literature that helps scholars to rethink axioms they have been taking for granted for decades, and there is still much more to be said about it.
