This spiritual memoir is by one of the first American devotees of the guru Neem Karoli Baba made famous by Ram Dass in the classic Be Here Now. Ravi Dass starts his quest right after college in 1964 at the urging of Allen Ginsberg to go to India for spiritual awakening. It will take you on an extraordinary journey from living with the great saints of India to working for the largest companies in the world like IBM, HP, Grey Advertising and Young & Rubicam managing multimillion-dollar budgets. Ravi Dass encountered Baba Ram Dass when he was a monk at Ganeshpuri, the ashram of the controversial guru of Eat, Pray, Love fame in 1970. After meeting Ram Dass he asked to be taken to his guru Maharaji in the Himalayas. From that moment on, this book interweaves the odyssey of a long time seeker with the mysterious hand of Maharaji that guided him for the next forty years from householder to Maui. Neem Karoli Baba considered Ravi Dass the actual incarnation of the 15th century Indian Saint Raidas.

Present-day migration takes place in a world characterized by the compression of time and space, with cheaper air travel and the existence of new communication technologies - the internet in particular - making it easier to stay in contact with the places, people and cultures that one has left. This book investigates the online organization of, and exchanges within, the global Indian diaspora. Bringing together research from around the world and presenting studies drawn from the US, Europe and India, it engages with theoretical and methodological debates concerning the shaping and transformation of migrant culture in emerging sites of sociality, and explores issues such as religion, citizens...

Sikhs in Europe are neglected in the study of religions and migrant groups: previous studies have focused on the history, culture and religious practices of Sikhs in North America and the UK, but few have focused on Sikhs in continental Europe. This book fills this gap, presenting new data and analyses of Sikhs in eleven European countries; examining the broader European presence of Sikhs in new and old host countries. Focusing on patterns of migration, transmission of traditions, identity construction and cultural representations from the perspective of local Sikh communities, this book explores important patterns of settlement, institution building and cultural transmission among European Sikhs.
