Dr. René Monteil graduated from the University of London with BSc and PhD degrees in Chemistry. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemists after his research with Nobel Laureate, Sir Derek Barton, at Imperial College, London. He has held academic positions at the University of the West Indies at both the Mona and St Augustine campuses in the departments of Chemistry and Petroleum Engineering. The deactivation of the dirhodium catalyst by CO has been previously demonstrated, and in situ NMR spectroscopic studies have indicated that facile fragmentation is occurring at 90°C under H 2/CO pressure, but also at 25°C, albeit at a slower rate, which can lead to complete catalyst deactivation. We are trying to address this problem through the design of a novel, far more strongly chelating tetraphosphine ligand rac-et,ph-P4-Ph (et,ph-P4-Ph = PEt2( o-C6H4)P(Ph)CH2(Ph)P(o-C 6H4)PEt2). Rene Prevost, Sr., the son of Nicolas Provost married Anne Daudelin, the daughter of Nicolas Daudelin at the Parish of St. Anne de la Perade, Quebec, Canada on 9 January 1684. They were the parents of nine children. Their son Rene Prevost, Jr. (b.1706) married at Varennes, Quebec, to Marie M. Brunel in 1731. A descendant, Leon (Leander) E. Provost (1847-1921) was the son of Joseph Provost and Salome Louise Demers of St. Constant, Quebec, Canada. Family members emigrated to the US and settled at Holyoke, Massachusetts. Several generations of ancestors and descendants are given, including fourteen generations.
