Body Count

He Seemed So Normal . . . By day, Robert Lee Yates, Jr., was a respected father of five, a skilled helicopter pilot who served in Desert Storm and the National Guard, and a man no one suspected of a deadly hidden life. By night he prowled the streets where prostitutes gathered, gaining their trust before betraying them with a bullet to the head. On August 26, 1997, the decomposed bodies of two young women were discovered in Spokane, Washington. Within months four more women were added to the mounting death toll. In 2000, Yates pleaded guilty to thirteen murders to avoid the death penalty. But in 2001 he was convicted of two more murders and is now on death row in Washington State, waiting for the day when he will die by lethal injection. Updated with the latest disturbing developments, awardwinning author Burl Barer's reallife thriller is a shocking portrait of one man's depravity. "Brilliant investigative journalism. . .a nonstop chilling thrill ride into the mind of an evil and savage killer." Dan Zupansky, author of Trophy Kill Includes 16 pages of photos "A must read." The Spokane Serial Killer

Robert Lee Yates is the most prolific serial killer in Washington State history, with at least eighteen victims to his name. Mostly, these are prostitutes murdered during a two-year period in the mid to late 1990s in Spokane, Washington State. It is more than possible that we can trace the beginnings of Yates' murderous personality to before he was even born. His father, Robert Lee Yates senior, was one of ten siblings who grew up on a Tennessee farm. We know very little about this time other than, in 1945, his father - Robert Yates' Jr's grandfather - was murdered by his wife. But what possessed Yates to go on a murderous rampage for years on end? And how was he finally caught?

"The poetry of Robert Yates is both brooding and exacting; something about it unnerves us, it sees too clearly into things: the dystopian vacuity of modern life, our shared language doomed to a series of dull clucks and futile gestures. Don't come to these poems for consolation, but for the exhilaration of seeing all with absolute clarity. Uncompromising and strangely haunting stuff." Fran Lock

The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates

WINNER OF THE 2022 BEST LAUGH OUT LOUD BOOK FOR 9-13-YEAR-OLDS Freddie Yates likes facts. Just not the one staring him in the face – that his secret plan is not, in fact, secret. Because Freddie's journey wasn't meant to involve Big Trev and the onion-eating competition or the loo-exploding pear-and-potato turnovers. And Freddie definitely didn't expect to end up, with his two best friends, on national television in a supergirl costume. But journeys never take you where you think they will. And for Freddie, that fact might just have to be enough... The super funny, heart-warming adventure of three boys, one summer holiday, and a few miracles along the way.

British Studio Potters' Marks

This new edition of Eric Yates-Owen and Robert Fournier's classic book on British studio potters' marks contains new and revised entries for many potters, with up-to-date information about the artists' styles, marks and addresses. Entries are arranged alphabetically, with each entry giving biographical data, information on the type of ceramics produced, the location of the pottery and dates indicating when marks have changed, as well as images of the different marks used. Three useful indexes enable the reader to search by mark rather than maker, in various categories such as creatures, monograms and signs. Revised by expert collector James Hazlewood, British Studio Potters' Marks, third edition, is the essential reference guide for collectors of British studio pottery.

It is an insight into his own psyche, one plagued with twists and turns that would leave at least sixteen innocent women dead. He describes in detail his story of redemption and God's grace. This book will allow you to come to your own conclusions pertaining to whether the depths of darkness can truly find the light.

This book assesses the important role of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the management of regional political, security and economic relations. The author argues that ASEAN’s prominent role in the region, spanning 50 years, is largely due to the acquiescence of the great powers who endorsed ASEAN, accepted its regional position and accorded the institution a legitimacy and durability that, otherwise, it would not have. This text offers a key intervention into the debate regarding ASEAN and regional order by showing how ASEAN’s contribution to order management is part of a negotiated division of labour with the great powers. The author applies an innovative social roles analysis, which captures the dynamic interactions between ASEAN and the great powers from the Cold War to the present day.

Rob's work is a looking glass that opens to his lived experience. His poems tug at the heart of the reader, and ask poignant questions that only a poet who has lived many lives can ask. What I am most inspired by is Rob's willingness to lean into the discomfort of his lived trauma, to pull from it what is useful, giving agency and voice to his inner child. "Nobody can tell you how to shape your lived experience", is what Rob said to me in a poetry workshop. His words have remained with me and continue to shape my impression of and my respect for this fine steward of the written word. I am not sure what will become of this world, but I am comforted knowing that I share space and time with poe...
