Learning Factories of the Future
This book presents peer-reviewed papers from 14th International Conference on Learning Factories (CLF 2024) that took place from April 17-19, 2024, at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. CLF 2024 continued the successful CLF conference series targeting the latest research and development in the field of learning factories. The book is organized into two volumes and covers state-of-the-art research insights towards Learning Factories of the Future including learning factory design, Industry 5.0, digital twinning and VR/AR, 5G/6G in learning factories, AI for manufacturing systems, human-centred work design, human-robot collaboration, sustainability in learning factories, as well as cross-learning factory product/production systems. The book seamlessly integrates theory with real-world practice, empowering learners such as students, qualified engineers, and workers to keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies and methodologies, through enhancing learning factories. It also helps society and industry effectively manage future transitions with addressing current topics around digitalization, sustainability, and lifelong learning in industry.
Widening the Scope of Environmental Policies in North America
This edited volume provides a variety of insights into the context in which ocean and wetlands policy is placed at the sub-continental level. The governments of Mexico, Canada, and United States of America have recognized the importance of conserving, protecting, and enhancing the environment in their territories. As a result, they have developed an institutional structure aimed at furthering environmental cooperation. However, marine environment has played a secondary role, characterized by scientific cooperation that does not develop into regional policies. This project analyzes how ocean and wetlands preservation is omitted from the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation, meaning that collaborative efforts under-perform or remain largely sidelined from mainstream issues. As contributors come from a mix of the social and natural sciences (politics, international relations, law studies, sociology, oceanology, and oceanography), this book presents diverse viewpoints on how to address wetlands protection, deep ocean research collaboration, and the marine context of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Mango Orchard
As a child, Robin Bayley was enchanted by his grandmother's stories of Mexican adventures: of bandits, wild jungle journeys, hidden bags of silver and a narrow escape from the bloody Mexican Revolution. Una "figura discursiva de exclusión" se forma con descripciones de aquello que no conocemos y que se ha vuelto preocupación para nosotros. Cuando construimos figuras desviamos las características de un sujeto u objeto (igualmente figurados) a otro que aún no dominamos con el pensamiento. Las figuras deben entenderse como conjuntos de construcciones sociales y discursivas que condensan prácticas sociales, prejuicios, imaginaciones e ignorancias y que son utilizadas para hiperbolizar las diferencias que existen entre determinados grupos sociales.
