Joseph Morris was born in 1806 and died in 1891. Over the course of 84 years on his "earthly way," Joseph Morris lived in North Wales, he married and was the father of five, and - at different times, in different capacities - he served as a master carpenter and as an ordained Minister of the Independent Church of Wales. Many of his life experiences are chronicled in this journal, which he completed on his 70th birthday in 1876. Reverend Morris wrote this personal account in Welsh in his own hand, and the original manuscript has been preserved in the Archives Collections of Bangor University (Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales). The journal was translated into English by Eiflyn C. Roberts, a great-great-granddaughter of Reverend Morris. At the time that Mrs. Roberts completed her translation work in 2010, she was a retired Welsh educator currently residing in Bangor. Mrs. Roberts has since passed away, in 2020. "On the Earthly Way" is published by Wordsmith Associates - an independent publisher operated by Rodney Morris Mebane, a great-great-grandson of Reverend Morris, who worked with Mrs. Roberts to coordinate the work.
