Written Language In Intermission of Malaysia Learners of English (Penerbit USM)

In preparing this book, the author's aim has been to create a current and introductory level text to acquint readers with the core concepts that constitute the discipline of language attrition. Thus far, no book of this kind has been published in the Malaysian context. In fact, the issue of the English language for a book like this is also limited. This book was designed to be used in both undergraduate and graduate courses in linguistics, and as referrals or general reading. Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penerbit Universiti Sains Malaysia

E-Prime, the software suite of Psychology Software Tools, is used worldwide for designing and running custom psychology experiments. Aimed at students and researchers alike, this timely volume provides a much needed, down-to-earth introduction into the wide range of experiments that can be set up using E-Prime. Many tutorials are provided to introduce the beginner and reacquaint the experienced researcher with constructing experiments typical for the broad field of psychological and cognitive science. Apart from explaining the basic structure of E-Prime and describing how it suits daily scientific practice, this book also gently introduces programming via E-Prime's own language: E-Basic. The authors guide the readers through the software step by step, from an elementary level to an advanced level, enabling them to benefit from the enormous possibilities E-Prime provides for experimental design.

The Art of Applying Science in Sports: Forty Skills to Empower Athletes is a unique book specially dedicated to empowering the athletes, coaches and sport psychology practitioners with user-friendly and effective tools that apply science to enhance sports performance. This book offers (particularly for the beginners and experienced practitioners) the art of applying different techniques, without compromising the theoretical principles of sports. It is customized using the stepwise approach to clearly present to athletes and practitioners ways to lay foundation, to engage in psychological skill training and to achieve the optimal mental state. This book is divided into four chapters (laying foundation, building athletes’ potential, empowering individuals and team collectiveness) for the reader to easily select the skills that are appropriate for them to self-regulate for optimal performance.

Intelligent Optimisation Techniques

This work gives a concise introduction to four important optimization techniques, presenting a range of applications drawn from electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, and systems engineering-such as the design of microstrip antennas, digital FIR filters, and fuzzy logic controllers. The book also contains the C programs used to implement the main techniques for those wishing to experiment with them.

For decades, optimization methods such as Fuzzy Logic, Artificial Neural Networks, Firefly, Simulated annealing, and Tabu search, have been capable of handling and tackling a wide range of real-world application problems in society and nature. Analysts have turned to these problem-solving techniques in the event during natural disasters and chaotic systems research. The Handbook of Research on Artificial Intelligence Techniques and Algorithms highlights the cutting edge developments in this promising research area. This premier reference work applies Meta-heuristics Optimization (MO) Techniques to real world problems in a variety of fields including business, logistics, computer science, engineering, and government. This work is particularly relevant to researchers, scientists, decision-makers, managers, and practitioners.

Comprehension of Wh-Dependencies in Broca’s Aphasia

This book investigates whether Croatian aphasics, in particular those diagnosed with Broca’s aphasia, have difficulty comprehending wh-dependencies. The tested structures include subject and object direct, embedded, long-distance and passivized who and which questions as well as relative clauses introduced by which. It is shown that differences in the deficit patterns between English- and Croatian-speaking Broca’s aphasics are due to structural as well as processing differences. The Croatian data are explained in terms of a case-cueing comprehension strategy and the competition model.

We often come across computational optimization virtually in all branches of engineering and industry. Many engineering problems involve heuristic search and optimization, and, once discretized, may become combinatorial in nature, which gives rise to certain difficulties in terms of solution procedure. Some of these problems have enormous search spaces, are NP-hard and hence require heuristic solution techniques. Another difficulty is the lack of ability of classical solution techniques to determine appropriate optima of non-convex problems. Under these conditions, recent advances in computational optimization techniques have been shown to be advantageous and successful compared to classical...
