Robert Mohwinkel ist kein Held. Im Gegenteil, er versucht, wo immer es geht, sich ganz und gar anzupassen. In der Familie, in der Schule, im Büro, in der Wehrmacht, stets möchte der junge Träumer, nicht auffallen. Nur im Tanzclub blüht er ein wenig auf. Erst nach dem Krieg, als sich die Zeiten geändert haben, und die Duckmäuser alter Schule nicht mehr gefragt sind, wacht er auf. Doch selbst diesmal macht er es nicht wirklich richtig. Der Roman "Alles Andere als ein Held" erschien erstmals 1959, ging allerdings trotz guter Kritiken neben Grass' "Blechtrommel" und Bölls "Billard um halb zehn" unter. Das lag nicht zuletzt daran, dass man in Deutschland so kurz nach dem Krieg von der allseitigen Anpasserei, den Verbrechen der Wehrmacht und den Betrügereien, auf denen sich das "Wirtschaftswunder" begründete, nichts hören wollte. Als der Roman 2002 nochmals erschien, wurde er begeistert gefeiert und sofort in die SWR-Bestenliste gewählt. Nun wird er im Rahmen der Lorenzen-Werkschau im Verbrecher Verlag wieder aufgelegt, vom Autor nochmals durchgesehen und mit einem neuen Nachwort von Lothar Müller.

In an extraordinary exposition, Lorenzen – an expert beekeeper and student of contemporary spiritual science – describes the ‘Logos mysteries’, based at the ancient temple of Artemis in Ephesus, where priestesses were known as ‘Melissas’ (‘honeybees’) and the sacrificial priests were called ‘Essenes’ (or ‘bee-kings’). These cultic mysteries, he says, bore remarkable parallels to the workings of a bee colony – specifically in the relationship between the queen and worker bees to the spiritual ‘group-soul’ of the bees. The Oxford Handbook of Music Listening in the 19th and 20th Centuries
An idealized image of European concert-goers has long prevailed in historical overviews of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This act of listening was considered to be an invisible and amorphous phenomenon, a naturally given mode of perception. This narrative influenced the conditions of listening from the selection of repertoire to the construction of concert halls and programmes. However, as listening moved from the concert hall to the opera house, street music, and jazz venues, new and visceral listening traditions evolved. In turn, the art of listening was shaped by phenomena of the modern era including media innovation and commercialization. This Handbook asks whether, how, and why practices of music listening changed as the audience moved from pleasure gardens and concert venues in the eighteenth century to living rooms in the twentieth century, and mobile devices in the twenty-first. Through these questions, chapters enable a differently conceived history of listening and offer an agenda for future research.
