The Life and Times of J. Neville Keynes

This fascinating biography of an economist who was also a logician and administrator, is based mainly upon his virtually continuous diary. The diary provides an intimate commentary on the academic developments and conflicts in which he was closely involved as well as on his life as undergraduate, bachelor and family man. It is the insight into J. Neville Keynes's personality, as well as his moral integrity as a diarist, which gives this book a particularly illuminating perspective from which to view the social and educational revolution that transformed Cambridge University during the last quarter of the nineteenth and the first quarter of the twentieth century. The Life and Times of J. Neville Keynes faithfully records the shifts in, and debates on, the educational, constitutional and financial context within which the academic revolution gradually and often stormily developed and in which J. Neville Keynes played such a vital and integral part.

Fueling Resistance

"This book explores how and why controversies over liquid biofuels (bioethanol and biodiesel) and hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") unfolded in surprisingly similar ways in the global North and South. In the early 2000s, the search was on for fuels that would reduce greenhouse gas emissions, spur economic development in rural regions, and diversify national energy supplies. Biofuels and fracking took centre stage as promising commodities and technologies. But controversy quickly erupted. Global enthusiasm for these fuels, and the widespread projections for their production around the world, collided with local politics. Rural and remote places, such as coastal east Africa and Canada's Yukon ...

Fancy Pictures brings together seven of Mark Neville's socially engaged and intensely immersive projects from the last decade. Neville often pictures working communities in a collaborative process intended to be of direct, practical benefit to his subjects. The Port Glasgow Book Project (2004) is a book of his social documentary images of the Scottish town. Never commercially available, copies were given directly to all 8,000 residents. Deeds Not Words (2011) focuses on Corby, an English town that suffered serious industrial pollution. Neville produced a book to be given free to the environmental health services department of each of the 433 local councils in the UK. Battle Against Stigma and Helmand are both projects resulting from Neville's time in Afghanistan. Two projects for the USA are also included. Invited by the Andy Warhol Museum in 2012, Neville examined social divisions in Pittsburgh, and the photo-essay Here is London, commissioned by The New York Times Magazine, echoes the style of the celebrated photographers who documented the boom and bust of the 1970s and '80s.

The Political Aspects of S. Augustine's 'City of God'

The delivery of these lectures was one of the last pieces of work that Neville Figgis was allowed to carry through. He prepared them for the press, leaving them in the form of lectures and preserving here and there the impress which the anxiety of war-crisis made upon them. In that form, therefore, they are published now. In place of the final revision which his failing health prevented him from making, another hand has tried unskilfully to supply what he would have done with skill, in order to carry out his wishes and make his last complete piece of work accessible to a wider public than those who heard the lectures delivered.

Frank Carter, friend of Neville Goddard (1905-1972) the twentieth century Christian Mystic, Author and Lecturer, gave a series of lectures in 1976, concerning his belief by way of his own vision and knowledge of scriptural meaning, that Neville Goddard's death had fulfilled scripture. The lectures contained in this book may not include every single lecture in Frank's series, and some of the audio was poor quality for transcription, but what we do have reveals little known details about Neville, a few anecdotes, Neville's last written words, and most importantly reveals what Neville's death meant scripturally, for us all. This book is not meant to be an exhaustive tale of Neville's life or ev...
