This report responds to issues & concerns related to peaking & ponding operations at the hydroelectric facilities on the St. Mary's River operated by Edison Sault Electric Company on the US side and Great Lakes Power on the Canadian side. It provides additional detail on the potential impacts that peaking & ponding on the River may have on the ecology of the River, and on concerns that regulatory agency personnel & other interested parties have voiced regarding potentially sensitive species & resources that may be affected by these practices. Issues are summarized with regard to fish spawning habitat, wetlands, threatened or endangered species, sediment transport, sea lamprey control, and the St. Mary's River Remedial Action Plan.
