Whole Life Worship

This book is a continuation of the LICC series begun by Neil Hudson's Imagine Church Whole-Life Worship will demonstrate that the contemporary Western Church has reached a point where our "gathered" worship is separated from our "scattered" lives outside of church. This is detrimental to the congregation's spiritual development and their effectiveness on their "frontlines". Church worship should be inspired and informed by our everyday experiences. It should empower and send the congregation out to continue worshipping. The book will provide patterns and resources to better connect gathered worship with the lives of the congregation beyond church meetings. The book will unpack a biblical gro...

Alice’s Evidence

This replaces the earlier Looking Autism in the Face: Two New Perspectives on Autism. This is personal; it is the expanded combination a pair of items I wrote about autism. Part of it looks at the relationship between Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) and Alice Liddell, and marshals the evidence that Dodgson was not in lust after Alice, but rather was an autistic who formed an autistic friendship with her; the rest examines six noteworthy who were afflicted with “music and mathematics” autism and shows what they accomplished, and how we should understand such people. The whole is intended to demonstrate the difficult and complicated emotions I call “autistic friendship” and trouthe. Dedicated to Catie Jo Pidel, to Elizabeth and Patricia Rosenberg, and to “Sarah Jane,” all of whom taught me lessons.

Creating Missional Worship

Creating Missional Worship explores how contemporary context and Anglican liturgical tradition can be fused together to create engaging and transformative worship. It addresses a key issue that has arisen in the wake of Fresh Expressions: to what extent should worship be shaped by the culture of the day, and how far can it stray from core patterns of worship and still be recognisably Anglican? Tim Lomax offers imaginative ideas and resources for finding freedom within a framework. Using the basic patterns of Common Worship, he outlines a contextual approach to creating worship that is incarnational, sacramental, Trinitarian and revelatory in today’s language and cultural forms. He offers many examples and illustrations of how liturgy and contemporary culture can meet in fresh and challenging ways.
