El barroco, una modernidad contracapitalista
¿El barroco puede constituir una alternativa de modernidad? En este libro los autores destacan que en el barroco latinoamericano hay una representación paródica, gozosa e irónica de la dominación de clase, de raza o de género. La narrativa literaria, al plantear los conflictos, interpela al lector para que participe en la historia. La creatividad formal de estas manifestaciones narrativas y su expresividad barroca consisten en incorporar el diálogo para cuestionar el predominio del lenguaje del poder, como único creador de sentido. En otros ensayos se destaca la necesidad de desarrollar una concepción de una educación contracapitalista desde la perspectiva de la hermenéutica barroca multicultural.

Visions of Transmerica
This book looks at Neobaroque Latin American fiction, poetry, essay and performance from the 1970s to the early 2000s in order to explore the cultural hybridization and transgressive identity transformations at play in these works. It shows how the ornamental style and boldly experimental techniques are an effective strategy in presenting decentered identities in sexually ambiguous, multiethnic, interracial, transcultural, and mutant characters, as well as in metafictional narrators and authors. In this way, the book demonstrates the potential of Neobaroque works to destabilize normative, essentialist and binary categories of identity. The study focuses on Latin America as a cultural macroregion, drawing on examples from a variety of countries, including Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, and the US-Mexican border. Drawing on gender, queer, trans and Chicana feminist theory, it argues for an alternative approach to a model of the Self, or a theory of selfhood, derived from the exuberant style and experimental techniques of the Neobaroque.
The Role of History in Latin American Philosophy
This book brings the history of Latin American philosophy to an English-speaking audience through the prominent voices of Mauricio Beuchot, Horacio Cerutti-Guldberg, María Luisa Femenías, Jorge J. E. Gracia, Oscar R. Martí, León Olivé, Carlos Pereda, and Eduardo Rabossi. They argue that Spanish is not a philosophically irrelevant language and that there are original positions to be found in the work of Latin American philosophers. Part I of the book looks at why the history of philosophy has not developed in Latin America. A range of theoretical issues are explored, each focusing on specific problems that have hindered the development of a solid history. Part II details the complex task of writing a history of philosophy for a region still haunted by the specter of colonialism.

El presente libro colectivo vincula educación y hermenéutica - la disciplina de la interpretación de la escritura, la oralidad (la conversación) y la acción significativa. En el aula concurren todos los aspectos del hombre, racionales y emocionales, conscientes e inconscientes, y para contemplar todo ese universo es menester la interpretación. Asimismo, la educación tiene que ver con la cultura, pues educar es introducir al individuo a la cultura o introducir ésta al individuo. Así, las múltiples relaciones que se producen en el aula, entre el maestro y los alumnos, son un texto por descifrar. Por eso es fundamental poseer de manera clara el ideal de cultura y la imagen de hombre que se busca plasmar en la acción educativa. La hermenéutica enfocada a la educación permite comprender el paradigma educativo y entender las virtudes humanas que hacen posible su realización.
