Disability Inclusion in Africa
Despite recent signs of change, people living with some form of disability continue to face discrimination, marginalization, and exclusion from full participation in public life, even within the church. In Africa particularly, those living with disabilities are often subject to stigma, abuse, and neglect, attitudes which can stem from misleading theologies. Bringing together experts from a range of disciplines, this collection of essays fills a longstanding need for scholarship on disability theology in African theological institutions. Contextually engaging with challenging topics, such as the perception of disability as punishment for sins and the doctrine of imago Dei in light of disability, readers are encouraged to critically reflect on theological understandings and approaches that cause harm instead of promoting disability inclusion. This vital work is a step towards a theology of inclusion, and to fostering more liberative, holistic and life-giving beliefs, attitudes and behaviours towards disability within the contexts of church and society today.
Religion and Development in Southern and Central Africa: Vol 2
This book is a result of a joint conference, which was held from 18th-22nd July 2017 under the theme Religion, Citizenship and Development – Southern African Perspectives." The theme of the conference was adopted in order to underline the importance and significance of religion in the socio-economic development of people in the world generally and in Southern and Central Africa in particular. The papers in the book are divided into two volumes. Volume one consists of papers which directly discuss religion and development in one form or another. The second volume contains papers that discuss religion and other pertinent issues related to development. The papers are grouped into sub-themes for ease of reference. These include Citizenship and Development, Migration and Development, Disability and Development, Pentecostal Churches and Development and Religion and Society. All in all, despite a divergence of sub-themes in volume two, all point to issues to do with the role of religion in development in Southern and Central Africa today.
Troubled Minds
Every society has its own definition of a normal and an abnormal human condition. For persons living with mental disorders, these concepts have a tremendous impact. This study investigates how the abnormal mind is culturally defined in Malaŵi, South-Eastern Africa. Based on anthropological techniques such as interviews, participant observation, and archive research, it explores the different social dimensions of mental disorder - e.g. its reflection in traditional dance rituals, in behavioural rules during pregnancy, or in the healing ministry of independent churches. It demonstrates how local explanations of mental disorder - be it witchcraft, an angry ancestor, or the will of God - determine the social acceptance of an affected person's condition. Recent processes of cultural change, however, strengthen the pluralism of Malaŵian religious landscape, opening the local debate to an ever wider range of interpretations.

Anglican Theology
It is now widely acknowledged that Anglicanism, far from being centred on western contexts is a worldwide phenomenon, with some of its liveliest corners located in the global south. Yet the Anglican theology which is taught in institutions is still focused overwhelmingly on a handful of British and North American voices. By exploring the work of eighteen tricontinential and marginalized Anglican theologians, this book begins to correct widespread bias in Anglican theology towards Britain and North Atlantic contexts.
